  • Hamilton half a second ahead on pole. But it won't last. Once his teammate copies his telemetry, it will be a lot closer.

  • His partner is annoying in her own right, but alas it's his whole media smug persona - his driving just doesn't overcome the package for me. I'm probably the only Brit who's not behind Hamilton.

  • Actually i'm with you. He was great in his first year, but every year following his personality really let him down. There are occasions when he does an interview that I think to myself "ok maybe I've been wrong about him" but it never lasts more than a moment. I still enjoy seeing some of his manoeuvre's but have grown to prefer seeing them fail.

  • I can't stand him either. Not for his friends (although they're all just as repellent as him) or his ex pussy cat. It's just him and his off track attitude/lifestyle/style.

The short of it is that Hamilton IS an amazing driver.
He's just a spoilt little wannabe pop star prick with it. With nothing ever intelligent to say.

  • I'm going to ignore the Mercs this year and just enjoy the fights between the Ferrari's and Williams' and everyone else.

  • Ha! That's exactly how I feel just couldn't put it I to words.

  • ahhhnold. this isn't weird

  • My opinion about LewHam is well-documented throughout these pages, but there's no denying his talent - personally we should all be admiring his terrific balls...

As far as he and Mercy ensuring that he has better equipment then his teammate, does that really still happen? We've all endured the genius of Schumacher - both at Benetton and 'Rarri, so I'm not too worried about another driver dominating.

I'm more interested in seeing how far McHonda will progress and whether or not the "electric shock treatment" rumours will ever see the light of day. I'm also interested to see whether or not the last minute teams will survive the financial rigours of an entire season.

I was in Paris last week and there were some seriously shifty looking fuckers wandering in and out of the FIA headquarters...

  • I agree the mchonda alliance has potential - it's either gunna be unbeatable by the end of the season or a total flop.

  • That was one of the most boring f1 races I've ever seen.

  • Yeah, I'm not even going to bother watching the hilights. This season is just another Mercedes parade.

  • Anyone else doing the badgergp fantasy f1?

  • Just set up a team.
    Daniel Ricciardo in a Merc
    Vettel in a Lotus
    Marcus Ericsson in Toro Rosso.

  • Managed to salvage 42 points from Melbourne, but 1/3 of that came from predicting a single safety car

  • I recognise Salman Rushdie and Gary Mabbutt but who's the fella in the middle?

  • It's Alonso when he woke up in hospital after his testing accident.

  • Nice

  • I'm never quite sure what people are talking about when they criticise Hamilton. What does he do that is so awful?

As far as I see it, off the track, he seems to spend his time with an attractive partner, other successful sportsmen and entertainers but generally not doing anything too note-worthy, which seems the same as most racing drivers past and present.

In the sport, he seems to be one of the best drivers, and yet always seems to thank the team and acknowledge the hard work by the engineers.

He's had his share of bad luck, and seems to get miserable about it, but still puts in good performances, doesn't do anything too dangerous on the track, and gets results.

I am a fan, but I'd like to think I'm not blinkered too badly, and I'd honest welcome any pointers on where my views are misguided.

    1. Tendency to throw toys out of pram (for example, tweeting confidential set-up information because he was a bit miffed)
    2. Ability to say truly stupid things (for example, the Rosberg faux class war)
    3. Enduring but misguided belief that he is a bad boy gangsta

Great driver. Bit of a plonker.

  • WTF was that on Button's face? I hope someone has a word with him before next time.

Other than the first two places, I thought the race was quite interesting - I don't really follow the pre-season stuff so probably showing my ignorance about being surprised by how well Sauber did, I could almost have found myself cheering them on but unfortunately the livery & filth printed on the front of the car put a stop to that.

  • I'm thinking of getting tickets to see the F1 at Silverstone. The missus is an F1 nut so figure it's got legs.

I'm well versed in buying football/cricket/rugby tickets but I've no idea about motor racing. Budget of around £4-500 for 2 tickets and ideally sat and sun
    Any help massively appreciated

    From a trying boyfriend

  • Oh and Hamiltons chain>>>>>>>>>>

  • It looks rather similar to the timing chain from my M3.
