McLaren have now issued a statement denying any car fault and have blamed... a gust of wind......
But Alonso is still in hospital for 'concussion'. Yet there was very little damage to the car.
Something doesn't add up.

And of course he's silenced by his contractual obligations, so he can't utter a dickie bird.
This is not good at all.

They don't even know if Alonso will race in Oz now. WTF!?

At least the FIA has launched an investigation into the crash.
In other news. Clearly hired for her outstanding driving talent...

Hopefully autosport dont have a comment section...

Apparently 29th (out of 31) in the GP3 feeder series, which is pretty darn good I can tell you. :-D

As long as she gets to the finish line she might be better than Maldonado and Grosjean in their heydays

pastor maldonado is a liability

Alonso to miss Aus GP....
-
• #4685
Crazy.
Here's a good side by side comparison of some cars at last weeks test. Interesting seeing the differences, especially wheelbase.
-
• #4686
Hi, where did you find that image, nice! The sf2015 is a train and the rb the tightest.
Wonder if Vettel must be feeling the difference
Shame the mclaren isn't there. It might be tighter still -
• #4687
Ah well, I have my sources.
Couple more, with the McLaren:
-
• #4688
Cheers, last year's fastest 3 are the best looking. Mclaren not that tight but much shorter than last year's lorry. Williams in particular looks ace.
-
• #4689
Shorter is not necessarily always better. A longer wheelbase can offer improved high speed stability and aero benefits. Really it's how it integrates with the whole system of car dynamics. Every team will have different design philosophies.

True but last year at least, with the new hybrids, was more an indication of poor packaging and poor cooling than anything else imo.
Off topic but, regarding hybrids, have a look at what Koenigsegg just did
http://jalopnik.com/how-the-1-500-hp-koenigsegg-regera-hits-248-mph-without-1689181377
An hybrid hypercar without gearboxes.
A fixie! -
• #4691
Mentalness. The rev counter is relative to wheel speed, when the motor hands-over to the engine after 30mph.
-
• #4692
This is quite good.
-
• #4693
Without a gearbox, but with variable ratios. Hydraulic transmissions are often used on diesel-powered trains.

Apparently Alonso lost 20 years of his memory in that crash: http://m.smh.com.au/sport/motorsport/fernando-alonso-forgot-20-years-of-his-life-and-thought-it-was-1995-after-crash-in-testing-20150306-13wsnh.html?&utm_source=social&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=nc&eid=socialn%3Afac-14omn0013-optim-nnn%3Anonpaid-25%2F06%2F2014-social_traffic-all-organicpost-nnn-smh-o&campaign_code=nocode&promote_channel=social_facebook

• #4695
Its not unheard of but still, that must be a weird experience for anyone.
-
• #4696
But past just 600 rpm it's fixed. The hydraulic coupling is there just to make it able to charge the batteries beneath 600 rpm i think.

Caterham Auction starts this week and next.
Some seriously nice kit with very good starting prices.
Worth a look if you need any tools, workshop kit. So much stuff.
-
• #4698
Oh dear Mclaren, JB's Nige impersonation clearly isn't helping either.
-
• #4699
Oh dear F1. Another prospective Hamilton domination has put me off already. For some reason he really gets on my tits, in the same way Sarah Jessica Parker does - dunno why, I don't know him, but he still annoys the fuck out of me.
-

Sorry he irritates you so. However it's very different him being so strong in that's the same car as his teammate. Remember that Schumey made sure his teammate had inferior kit, just as Vettel did to Mark.
Maybe it's his ridiculous ex-girlfriend or his hip-hop friends that you don't like? I like him for many reasons, but one of them is his driving ability. Niki Lauda applauds his audacious overtakes. Oh well, that Niki Lauda is clearly biased for the Brit.
Shit, if that's true about Nando then McLaren might be in real trouble. Keeping your electrons where they're supposed to be should be one of the easier bits to get right, I would've thought. It appears that their other major problem is a MGU-K seal issue - presumably this is part of the cooling circuit, as I can see why an MGU-K unit would need a seal otherwise?
