It's been surprisingly affordable so far but now comes the expensive bit, levers.
I'm still riding this beast every day. I've calculated that she's saved me a little over £500 in transport fees so far. Thanks to you that is!

For the twiple twiangle? SRAM S500 or S900 for teh bling.
Good to see the Lexpres in use: looks pretty rad with the splash tape :)

It's geared so I need force or rival or something. Whatever is cheapest but they all go for silly money on ebay. Everything is second hand on this build so I'm not going to be paying £200+ for new levers.
Haha thanks, it's great -

GT85 is actually pretty good at cleaning chains: spray it liberally on a cloth, clean chain then apply lubricant of your choice.

are pretty cheap at £70 for the pair or if you want to go a bit better (but battered) then
if they're working then they're definitely worth the extra £40, just sand them a bit to get all the decals off and they'll look fine. There's also a couple of pairs of force on 'bay for about £100, but the red would be worth the extra £9 so I won't bother linking them :)

Wasn't somebody here looking for a Nitto Technomic? Looks a lot like one (very high) and £25 BIN

I usually spray degreaser to removed the murk off before applying lubication.

Just wondering how do you guys go about getting riser bars in a quill stem with out scratching the crap out of the bar in the process?
-
• #100161
Either proper wedge tool or screwdriver ever so slightly expanding the gap in the stem. Keep twisting the bar as you progress in order to find the path of least resistance.
Let the euph-phest begin. -

my current project is fixing my cycling shoes
anyone know where I can buy a one of these?

I've used the coin trick a few times successfully:

I was, thanks. Think I need the even longer one though!

Just saw your tourer they sure went for a strange size jump. No wonder you need ultra high. There are also Nitto technomic for £38 on eBay they seem another little big higher.
25.4 bar clamp.
-
• #100167
Yeah, weird one! I seem to think they made them in 26 clamp as well (I hope so, as I've got about 10 sets of Cinelli bars to choose from...)

@ edscoble
Nice genesis, was tempted by one myself but it only comes with campag which is a crying shame

Sjs cycles has everything. Not an exxageration if they exist in 26 they'll have them.
If not a shim will do the job.

I found replacement shoe inserts in the end, so we'll see how the super-gluing goes
-

It's not WD40, it's just some generic spray rust remover/lubricant, I also use it just to clean chain and then oil it after. I usually just use it as a cleaner and for removing rusty bolts/components (enough of those in bike kitchen), in winter I give up lubing the chain and just give it some WD love every couple of days to wash down the salt/grim.
-
• #100174
No longer true! WD40 now officially has chain lube and degeaser. Smells pine fresh too!

Nitto sells 25.4 to 26 bar shims.
Unless I missed something...? Do they slip and not work?
Very nice! Quite an upgrade...
