Yup. Nomos Metro: http://www.nomos-store.com/en/Watches/Model-series/Metro/?smxCountry=us&redirected=1
Came very close to buying one last month but have a different watch in mind for my upcoming nuptials...
-
• #15403
Unfortunately NOMOS are replacing the original Metro with a more conservatively styled watch that has no power meter. Meh.
-
• #15404
Are they? The old Metro won't be available any more? I was trying to save for one... this is a concern
-
• #15405
Just had a look on their website, looks like an additional model rather than a replacement, unless you've heard otherwise.
-

It doesn't say it will be replaced but it's definitely a worry. My plan was to purchase my upcoming watch and then the Metro later in the year. Will be gutted if it disappears.

Just ordered a Thomas Preik caseback, will post the results next week

All of the other Nomos models are in "families" (e.g. Orion, which also comes in a 38 Datum model). Hopefully a good sign they'll take the same approach with the Metro?

A chrome plated haemorrhoid for the wrist. Insert some joke about turds and polishing.

Was real close to buying an explorer 1 earlier, 39.5mm version. In HK airport it was £3890
Just couldn't bring myself to part with the cash.
-
• #15415
That's cheap, Explorer 2 in Heathrow is £4,600.
-
• #15416
That does sound like a fair price.
The best deal I could find in London is about £4,100. Should be collecting in the next 6 weeks.

Save up for a bit longer and get a vintage 1016...

We should totally design an LFGSS watch and put it on kick starter.
Great idea "I'm in".
Plenty of knowledge + talent + enthusiasm on here to do a great job.
The Mk II site can show us how it's been done, they have a history in this.
Who's going to start the thread ? -

The watches in the Rolex range that I like are all the ones which are designed as tools- Explorere, GMT-Master etc.
Is there another company which focussed on making watches for specific roles/challenges?
-
• #15420
It's not a case of saving up; I'm still waiting for a potential discount direct with Rolex. I'll know if that comes through in the next 4-5 weeks so will purchase then.
As for the 1016, I prefer to get something new and the revised size fits me well.

Omega, Heuer, Flik Flak, etc, etc... I could go on...

I wasn't being entirely serious (have you even intermet me, bro?), just speaking for myself... That one's definitely on the 'This time next year, Rodney...' list for me... Classic...
I'm buying a house in the next six months so no other major watch purchases on the horizon for me...
Apart from a lufuguss Lolex, obvs...

^ this....
I want a new watch...
... I cant afford new watch and home...
... i cant afford new home....
I cant buy either.

Except the damn thing is going to be a Knock off of a Lolex.
This place would then scorn its own watch as its 'not the real deal subbie'
-
• #15425
I'd vote for a Lufuguss Lolex 1016 homage... But I would, wouldn't I?
Just looking at the Nomos website I can see this being the next hipster watch
