Using the search and found this thread, so adding what little information i have on mine.
First off Franknstein's photo link is still active and my bike is the same colour as the photo, gold metalflake with a brown front end and forks.
No tube details, no markings on mine so a budget tube set, the seatstay bridge is a simple stamped plate with some rack holes above brake.
Fork is fairly nice lugged affair, just stripped mine back to bare metal and can see brass in joints.
Frame is lugged, but lugs are really rough cast with loads of cast marks, i have a Record Sprint as well, thats a 501 main triangle version and is a big leap in all round quality.
Driveside chain stay has a round lug with a tapped hole near the BB shell, i presume for fitting a chain guard.
NDS seat stay has an odd braze on of a small threaded boss, this is on the inside of the stay below the flat plate chainstay bridge.
The ruined chainset that came off mine is a SR and if i measured right 118BCD, gears and mechs are Sachs, stem is SR and seatpost is a chrome 2 parter, unbranded open cage chromed headset.
Rear brake cable is held on with plastic plug in clips on the top tube, a small plug can be found on the lower head tube lug, i assumed there may have been some sort of dynamo cable route ?
I got mine 5 years ago, a hedge find rescue. I did at the time find a Raleigh forum (i belive that got hacked and shutdown) and asked on there if it was of any value to history before i did things to it. It was a budget low end bike, more of a working mans commuter than anything for racing.
I had to ditch the steel drop bars and steel rim 27" wheels as rotten, the brakes just have enough drop to run with 700c wheels, tyre clearance is excellent if you want to run 35mm CX tyres, haven't tried but 42mm will fit ok up front, but might be tight on the rear.
After 5 years of use it needs some loving, just stripped the fork back to metal and primed, same with the dropouts, and both chainstays needed some patches back to metal. Tempted to just rattle can the whole frame now.
After doing a SSEC on it i encountered some London bike shop staffers at the Madison ICE show, they remembered me because of the bike, because in there view it was a shitter that should have folded in half........ they had seen them through the shop........ tubes made of cheese was the mechs quote :) not worth converting to SS or fixed.
I got some track wheels and a riser bar and brake levers and have had fun with it for 5 years
Another 3 year thread bump :)
