Following on same theme as @laner .. 42c tyres would take out all the harshness too .. and long drop brakes/disc brakes and full 'guards ;)
FWIW I rode Rychtarski Max straight after CAAD10 and no matter how 'stiff' steel gets its not as harsh as alu. Go for all Max everything.
I don't know why but my thron road bike seems more harsh than alu frame+ fork track bike. Both about same size and same wheels.
