I have just bought a park tools chain wear indicator, the one with 0.5 marked on one side and 0.75 marked on the other. Does it work the same on a singlspeed chain as a geared chain?

I just used electrical tape on my last wheels and they've gone 2 years without a puncture or anything. On fancy carbon wheels you may want something more proper though I guess.

Didn't know this either.

Absolutely, report it. Gives a full description of the condition of the bike, and some components, auction for dust cap
Fair enough, I'll continue trolling him then.

Have you asked how much the dustcap weighs?
How many threads does it have?
What condition are the threads in?
Close up photos of the dustcap?

Where can I purchase fully removeable canti bosses for a steel frame being built?
-
• #66958
Has it always been like that? I know blue top has changed a lot since I was little (no cream blobs at the top, etc).

fizzykorn
I didn't think anyone had noticed that

By definition you can't remove bosses. You can get partially removable canti bosses, somewhere like Paragon Machine Works would be your best option.

Cheers, I guess I meant the studs.
I think this is what I need.

That's exactly what you need. I've ordered from PMW before, they are good quality and deliver incredibly quickly (placed order on Friday evening, small package arrived in Monday morning).

I've actually looked again and I'm not sure they're what I was looking for.
Is this what they look like when the stud is removed?

I was looking for ones that could be set into the tubes like the ones that can barely be seen here, really shoulda asked about it when I had the chance.

Ideal world... you want this but not carbon?
-
• #66966
Those look very similar to removable u brake mounts for bmxs
but god knows where you'd buy the bit to go in the frame. try someone like Limit Bikes or Ted James (UK based bmx frame builders)

Whatever covers the bed without riding up the sides, probably 18mm or 16mm if the rims are particularly thick walled. I like the blue Schwalbe ones.

Old post... but can't you do that in golden cheetah?
This is my CP curve from 3 random rides, although admittedly I can't make it show how they all stack up VS my overall CP curve... I can only do that for each ride at a time.

I just posted this ad in the local forum, but if no one wants my boxes of junk parts, what is the best way to get rid of them?
Are local bike shops likely to want any of it, or is it all just destined for landfill?
How do other people get rid of their cycling junk?

There are various bike recyclers, mostly charity/community enterprises, who might take the stuff off your hands. http://bsbcoop.org/ seems to be the closest to you.

We just took down the old Sky dish down from the front of the house, it wasnt connected up, I have no idea how old it is.
From browsing the Sky website/forums it doesn't look like they collect the things. Isn't there an obligation on them to do so?
I guess I will just lug the thing to the council refuse site.

Aaah yes thanks. From the website I think that they may be the same group of folks who used to have a shop up on Magdalen Rd... They closed down a few years ago but maybe they're back. They loaned me some tools for my first ever FIXEH SKIDDAH build and gave me a saddle out of their parts bin FOC which is still on my commuter, so it would be nice if they had a use for the bits.

That's great. Many thanks tester.

Don't know where you live,
but even here in the outermost west London Borough,
anything made of metal left outside for at leasr 24 hours
is magically removed, for free, by volunteer street cleaning fairies. -

SE 'burbs. worth a try I guess, but it doesn't feel very neighbourly...
23mm wide 700c carbon clincher rims. What width rim tape do I need? Preferred type/material?
