Great that you guys like the project so far. :)
The frame is not painted yet. At first, I have to find somebody to remove the dents in the top tube and I still have not decided what colour I want.
Right now, I am really keen on having the typical 3Rensho light blue + some sparkles which should work well with pink Benotto. -

Got the bottom bracket removed today. The right cup was stuck, so a Bunsen burner was needed to remove it. Besides that, I really wondered that the BB is 36x24 tpi (Italian).
I also put frame+fork on a scale:
frame: 1857 g
fork: 723 g
2580 g in total which is not bad for a 61cm frame. :) -

Bottom bracket cleaned and ready
Unfortunately, I'm a little bit out of money at the moment, so it will take some more time to get the frame painted.

Does the frame has an Italian threaded BB?
edit. nvm, just read that it does.
-
• #33
Yup, really wondered about that, too.
Als this is probably a custom frame, it seems that the previous owner simply ordered that way.
What bothers me a bit is that the bottom bracket shell is a little too narrow for an Italian shell (70mm), so I might need a shorter axle.

Nice picset. Lots going on. BB shell, ruler, nose piercing, dog, snoozing human in a jumper etc.

I've never seen an italian BB that's 68mm wide. Are you 100% positive it's italian?
-
• #36
Yes, italian cups with bsc axle seems a very odd choice..
Otherwise, I've been meaning to ask, are both your frame and headset JIS standard (meaning 30mm bottom cup + 27mm head race)?
-
• #37
Hahaha, I had no idea that I attached this picture.

You can always put a spacer between one of the cups and the bb shell (which side you choose depending on the chainline you need) to edge it back out to 70mm

@kifla When I first saw that the Dura Ace BB was Italian and the shell was only 68mm wide, I feared that someone squeezed an Italian BB into a British shell but the threads are perfectly fine and they are definitely Italian. I reckon that the BB shell was just cut a little too much.
@Agustin Axle is also ITA. Will check frame standard later.

I'm about to sell my aerospoke to finally get the Brensho some new fresh paint. Now, I ponder about the right colour. The only thing I'm sure about is that I want to have a single-coloured paint + sparkles + yellow lug fillings that fit the colour of the decals. I really love that green from that Gazelle frame. What do you guys suggest? I need some inspiration.

It can only be blue!

Seems like I have to push back the restoration of the frame once more. :/
I got an offer for a really nice wheelset consisting of Superbe Pro hubs and silber Araya rims in flawless condition, not for cheapz though. Pics asap. -

My 2c on BB shell width... it is possible that it was once BSA threaded, but the threads were stripped. If that happens it is fairly common to hone out the BB shell and re-tap with Italian threads - I have a Holdsworth with this exact BB shell config.

Vittoria Open Corsa good choice for tyres?

damn that gazelle is so nice, i think a twist on the classic brensho blue might be nice. but of course that could be a little controversial! ;)

Is this still happening?
I have a feeling this is going to be really good! Have you painted it already?
