Go here: http://www.gawisp.com/perry/agree.html get the correct firmware for your 800 (2.6?).
Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD and then copy that to the Garmin folder on the device, when you turn it on it will ask if you wish to install a firmware version that is earlier than that currently on the device - say yes.
This worked perfectly for me, however it had to work repeatedly as roughly every 1 in 5 times I plugged the Garmin in it would update to the latest firmware, having decided on it's own that that is what I wanted.
Because idiot, I had to update my Garmin 800 firmware and have lost the ability to turn auto-zero off for my fixed Powertap.
A long while back, someone, hippy maybe posted a link to the file and a method for rolling it back. Anyone have it?
