  • wandsworth road is hellacious from cedars road down to where it's closed down by lansdowne way, I haven't seen why it's closed probably something to do with the building work down at nine elms.

Wondering why there isn't more signage further back to let drivers know that they may want to try a different route.

Anyways made the beginning of my commute interesting.

Lots of cyclists way out west, who are using the milder weather to get a head start on their fair weatherdom. Nice to see cycling numbers are rising further from the critical mass that is central and east...

  • Noddergeddon is nigh.

  • I shall name the tail wind I encountered on my ride home last night Dave as it were fucking amazing.

Rode in this morning in a t-shirt. Glorious.

  • Clocks changing, closely followed by Easter Bank Holiday, all we need is another tube strike and we have the perfect storm. A blizzard of hi viz.

  • Opposite of the commuting hoards was the fixxxie doing mad skids in front of a camera crew going over Waterloo bridge around 7.40 this morning. Tried to pull a face as I went by, but don't think I styled it out.

  • A blizzard of hi viz.

    Like snow blindness, only yellow.

    Yellow snow blindness.

That's an avenue I don't really want to explore.

Might be a bit like Weil's disease but from road rats.

  • Watch out where the huskies go,
and don't you eat that yellow snow.

  • Yellow snow is just lemon sorbet looking for a home.

  • Tube. Rammed. Didn't have to twat anyone for bumping my dodgy arm. Tired. Wouldn't bang unless very drunk. 3/10

  • Had a bus make a really close pass that almost pushed me right into the curb. Driver stopped at a stop after the next set of lights and made a lovely sad face when I shouted "video will be with your employer by the weekend" didn't even need to point out it was the pass he just knew. Apart from that a really nice day and nice ride.

6/10 would shout at bus driver again

  • Hoping for an extended commute tonight to go pick up a CNOC 16 for MiniGB.

12/10 if eBay person gets back to me. 2/10 if not.

  • CNOC 16s are RAD!

  • Appointment in Crewe today - so bought a return from Euston about 6 weeks ago - £18.

My appointment finished 2 hours earlier than expected (it went well) and so I bought a single on the first train back to London - £73.

Should I be pissed off? Or pleased? Instinctively feel like something is terribly wrong with Virgin trains business model or my attitude.

    Probably both.

  • Totally worth it to leave Crewe early

  • If it was worth £55 to get home 2 hours earlier, outside of rush hour then yes.

The train company doesn't care. When you bought that £18 advanced fare ticket 6 weeks ago Virgin Trains would have received the balance (from the normal price) as a subsidy from the Government.

We have some of the most expensive fares compared to Europe, but also some of the cheapest. It's just walk up fares during peak times where we generally come out worst:-

  • Oooh nice. I'll try not to bitch so hard when I need to buy a train ticket (usually on the spot. Because Drunk).

  • Got on the train this morning, let out a silent but incredibly rank hang over fart.

Felt a little guilty and thought about how me cycling was probably a good idea, for the sake of others.

But then rank ness made even me feel a little ill, which caused inadvertent laughing at the pain I was causing others... Is that the opposite of schadenfreude?

What ever it was, would fart again...

  • Nodders paradise tonight

  • The highway is extremely light on nodders as the dumper trucks scare them away. I feel safer on the highway with the trucks than on CS3 with its nodders, nutters, pedestrians and sideroads.

  • It's just quicker to not have to stop at lights etc

  • oh do fuck off with your tiresome og'er-than thou 'nodders, lol' groupthink circlejerkery, your scene died 5 years ago, no one gives a fuck anymore.

  • ^ This.

I ride a Brompton to work or around my neighbourhood because sometimes I want to ride in normal clothes and not rush, rather than put on more cycling-appropriate fare and my Sidis and ride fast. Largely keep out of everyone's way and on the back streets, but it's interesting the way that some cyclists immediately start looking down their nose at you just because you're taking it easy. Usually it's the ones taking silly risks at junctions who are the most patronising, at that.

Not an attempt to troll, btw, am sure you're all lovely. But the 'us vs nodder' thing isn't healthy IMHO.

  • ^ also this.

I have recently been wafting about all statesman like on an upright Dutchbike and I'm starting to think the nodders have got it right.

It's actually very nice going slow; you see more, you get less sweaty so can wear normal clothes, you get less stressed, you smile at peds as you cruise on by and they smile back. I like it.

I expect by the end of the week I'll be back seeking cheap tarckbiek thrills, but for now I'm all about the waft.

  • I get what you're saying but I'm not some pro-mmuter. I think "fuck off" is very childish but each to their own if it helps you sleep at night up on your pedestal.
I ride a beat up piece of shit beater in skinny jeans and a hoodie. I just don't want to be stuck behind 200 taking it easy, fluoro, fair weather, office workers when I've got to get to work on time.

  • csb.
