Can I get some advice on some spd/flat pedals please?
I've been looking at the vavert ones: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/vavert/combination-pedals-ec045532
which at 392g are much lighter than any shimano ones. They are also cheaper.
Is there any reason I should steer clear of them?
The Shimano SPD mechanism is likely to be superior with a more positive clip in than copies of them. Knowing that you are definitely clipped in is quite useful. That is where the cost saving is likely to come from.
Yes that's worth a thought. I have pulled out of spd's before and fucked myself and my front wheel so don't want to do it again.
