How scary @Kat_Balou - glad you can at least now treat or manage the diagnosis - better than not knowing what the hell is wrong.
Do they know why you've developed asthma? Did they do anything other than an x-ray, such as a spirometer test?
I don't want to go all Daily Fail on you but there's a lot of misdiagnosis of the condition and very inconsistent care. If I were you, I'd get a second opinion from a specialist team. My dad was treated for asthma for years before they worked out what was really wrong, by which time it was too late to treat him effectively and the asthma treatment had done a lot of harm, even though it felt like it was helping.
