What are the benefits of the finish line crouch 'surge'? Pushes you over the line a few inches quicker?

• #66881
Bit futuristic, but yes.

Moves the front wheel forward (by moving the CoG of the man/machine backwards relative to the frame), which is what counts.

do you know if 'proper' shims exist in 25.4 to 26.4 flavour?
if not, could I get one for a seatpost i.e. below and cut off the end and cut it in half to make it work with 25.4mm bars in an older 26.4mm Cinelli stem?

Anyone ever flown with Air Transat? Currently £300 cheaper than BA for a return flight for two to Toronto, will this be a false economy?
-
• #66889
Only if they run out of fuel mid-Atlantic.

I've flown with Air Transat before, it's basically a charter airline, like Thomson or Thomas Cook. I think they are generally cheaper as they fly from Gatwick and have less options for times and dates of flights. Don't expect the latest films and free booze, but generally will get you to where you want to be.
Have you tried looking at Air Canada as well?
-

Air Canada don't offer as much of a saving and my Canadian friends completely hate them.

How am I supposed to replace Shimano rubber hood covers on shifters? (6770)
-
• #66893
Hate them? They seem to be generally well regarded and in my limited experience heading to your part of the world they have always been my preferred option, though sometimes more expensive.
I think the hate is partly down to their dominance and the fact they were nationalized in the 80s. -

What's with posting these empty landscape shots?

Failing badly at wildlife photography. I can barely see that mallard.

As it's a cycling forum I should have said Maillard, perhaps.
Sorry I'm a bit bored. -

I'm finally on pre-retirement leave. Been on leave ten days though asked back in for three of them (at time and a half) to search ref the murder in Bristol. Now I've got nothing to do. No bikes to fix nothing I need to purchase on ebay. Just trawling and trolling...

Go commit some crime.
Least that what I assumed.
