Not that I've ever undertaken anything as extreme as the challenge Steve has taken on, but when I've done multi day rides with long distances, eating becomes a chore first. You know you have to, but the prospect of shovelling down yet more carbs becomes one you dread.
I have never found this. Maybe I haven't ridden as far or for as long as you are relating to, but when I've done 3,4 or 5 day rides of 100+ miles a day eating remains an absolute pleasure and each excessive (but justified because fueling) meal becomes a highlight. And pudding. Lots of pudding.
My experiences come from trips longer than a week. I get to the point where I know I need to eat, but am so fed up with just shovelling it in that, mentally, it gets tough.
I've no idea how Steve can keep going day after day after day. Mentally he must be very, very tough.
