  • Must admit when I heard the news this morning I wondered if you'd left someone behind at parliament square... (23yr old male scaled HoP overnight, unknown motive)

  • Yep,
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-31785372
Explains all those fire engines and sirens.

  • Ha don't know about that.
Maybe one of us wanted to climb the fence, wave their bike in the air shouting,
    "Share the roads".

  • I did wonder what the TV crews were for when I rode past on way home.

Thanks John for organising that ride with military precision. I hope all the riders who crashed are healing up well (did someone stack on the Ride Ride that I wimped out of?).

Edit:- Was great to meet old and new faces alike. Hello to you all! Highlights for me was the sprint to Kings Cross and the labyrinthine cut through Barbican. Would do again.

  • Recap:
    Around 40 started.
Social malcontent sprays beer over leaders on Holland Park bike lane.
Also in Holland Park, a crash coming downhill.
    Sprint section to Kings Cross.
Another crash just pulling into Kings Cross.
Fat Barbour-wearing bastard criticises riding style, also at Kings Cross.
    Beers at Clerkenwell Green.
"Shhhhh!" Through Barbican, just made cut-off time.
    Sprint section to Parliament Square.
    Beers.

Then Fifteen of us went on a midnight-mission way out East.
One nasty crash after Greenwich Tunnel.
Back under Woolwich Tunnel and over Canary Wharf.
    One puncture.
    Back to bagels then home.

    My legs are sore..

  • My joke of the night.
    "Hope beer-dude didn't have Hepatitis".

  • As long as no bike is discovered on the roof, we can safely assume no LFGSS involvement.

  • Definitely the best forum ride I've been on. Thanks to everyone who helped pick up the pieces - and especially John - for organising. My cuts n' bruises are now nicely risen but it sounds like I got off relatively lightly compared to the others. 10/10 would ride again.

  • Big thanks to John & Kris for such a good ride. Got a swollen fvcked-up knee this morning, but it was worth it. Glad you're okay @vunugu!

  • great ride last night
    thanks john and kris

  • Really enjoyed the ride, thanks John & Kris. The Holland Park bike hill was a new find for me, and the route through Barbican is always great fun, I can never get it right when I'm on my own. Great turnout, nice to catch up with lots of old faces and some new ones. Only saw the first crash, glad to hear everyone is in relatively good health.

  • Such a good ride, Thanks John & Kris for leading and generally making it an awesome night.

@vunugu hope your okay, pics of battle wound please?..

  • This is my hip wound from the Holland Park crash... It's developed nicely over the weekend and I think will put me out of action on the bike for a few days.

Link for the faint of heart/workplaces.

  • My wounds don't actually look that impressive. The one that shed most of the blood is on the underside of the jaw and hidden by my beard (edit: you can just make it out through all the grey). It's a bit of a nasty gash mainly because of the location.

Here's the cheek, which is healing well but will most likely leave a permanent reminder of the ride.

  • Oh farkkk..

  • Cheers. Hope your knee is getting better. Mine was the size of an apple by the time I got home. I didn't even realise I'd banged it until I started walking back up the path. Strapped an ice pack to it just before I fell asleep which helped immensely but I'm still one step at a time on the stairs.

  • Yeah, it was quite painful getting back to Beigals & then home. You got a great "forum battle scar" there ... heal well!

  • The hell it could have been worse!

  • Hi, bit late to join the party but here is my 2 cents:

Sorry, didn't have many pictures, let alone good ones. Few more over on flickr:

Thank you for an awesome ride. Promise that I will get better pics in the future. See you on the next one!

  • Awesome ride, thank you for organising. Was feeling a bit some from the King's Cross stack but having seen the above pic I have no complaints. Bring on the bridges.
