have you got details of that wheel Kev? ss cassette type or screw on freewheel, 135 spacing, what rim ?
-
• #7305
Cam, sounds good. How/when can I see the goods and PM a price.
No offence Kev.. you know I love you... but I'm mainly after a front wheel. If I have to buy a pair then so be it. If Cam's goods aren't up to scratch I might just have to build someting. -

Yep, 135mm surly hub, iso disc brake mount on one side, screw on freewheel threads on the other. Rim is a rigida dp18 (I think) and spokes are... hmm don't remember...

does anyone have, or can recommend, a strong 25.4mm seatpost c350mm long that isn't 'pivotal'? My marino demands the stupid size and I keep bending them...
-
• #7308
Which bit bends? The post or the clamp?
-
• #7309
You tried a Thomson? they come in 25.4....or maybe a new bike with a larger size seatpost....??

Less pies... ;)

I've not had problems with the cheapo kalloy ones, although I don't have loads showing.

Looking for Pair of V brakes anyone ?

Got a hub sorted, I now just need a 26" 36H v-brake rim please.
There must be some lying around.

• #7314
I was using SDG it's not pivotal but is ibeam if that's a problem?
-
• #7315
My SDG was also fine.

Yes: 135mm surly hub, iso disc brake mount on one side, screw on freewheel threads on the other. Rim is a rigida dp18 and spokes are some model of DT Swiss, cant remember which one. It was built up by Mike in Push Cycles.

Still got that White industries freewheel 19T great condition. Price drop to £40
-
• #7319
I'd prefer not to have to spend lots by getting a new saddle but I guess I beam might be an option. Thomson is also more than i want to spend. But I guess there is nothing between £10 and £80 seatposts in that stupid size.
I think it's the amount I hVe showing and maybe something about my technique/mad power because I have also bent a 27.2 and snapped a seatpost bolt on my hybrid bike. Could also just be a heaviness thing...

Thomson posts are often reduced to £40-£50 by CRC etc, not sure whether 25.4mm would be a size that's stocked enough to be included in a sale though.
mass + leverage + dynamics = excess peak torque at the clamping point. Lose weight, get a frame which fits or ride more smoothly (or all three).

• #7321
Thomson would be your best bet, IIRC the inner of the post is machined oval and hence much stronger compared to standard posts.

Still looking for a bike, anyone?
-
• #7323
The I-beam 25.4 is impossible to find apart from a short BMX one, I ended up having Ste's old one

Anyone got any Hollowtech 2 bb spacers kicking about? Got some cranks with a bb to fix my polo bike, didn't get the spacers for 68mm bb shell...
