External BB track crank

  • Hi,

I've recently brought a pre cursa to build into a fixed commuter.
I'm trying to decide on a crankset, I'd like it to be exteral BB based, so I've my options are limited to Omnium & S300 (and On-one but its a bit bling), but have recently seen this "MIC Skeace" on ebay for similar price to the S300, but 144 BCD and external chainring mounting.

Has anyone seen these before? There doesnt seem to be anything on google, was wondering if it was a re-branded component?

    cheers for any help

  • I would assume they're the same open mould designs as the on ones and Andels that look similar and cost about the same.

They'll be pretty heavy but solid and reliable cranks, pity the logo is so ugly.

  • They look a bit squarer I think, particularly at the end -

Could just be point of view and lighting though.

That same brand also make these in a variety of colours:

  • Ace cheers for that, not a complete unknown then. Might be the one I go for then.

  • Would I be right in saying the BLB Notorious are much of the same? all be it more expensive? but i would be able to get it in 47t and the branding's a nice subtle style.

  • Probably, I'd guess they'd all be variations of the same design as most of these companies (including BLB) don't really develop much of their own stuff. It all should be decent but IMO the second you're paying over about £80 you may as well try to find some second hand omniums.

  • Link to them Pagan cranks? They cant be that bad surely if you paint over the butterz logo

  • Shimano alfine range has some unsure if 1/8 rings on them as stock. Rather robust made for hub geared german commuters mostly.

  • Here with the Delta style chainring, here with a nasty chainring in a plethora of exciting colours.

Imagine you could use acetone to remove the logo if it isn't laser-etched.

  • I think blb, these, on-one, origin-8, ... all get them from the same manufacturer in taiwan

  • sugino also has external bb track cranks

  • I got these for sale :)
