  • Seems reasonable, friend raced with some Easton CX forks on his Cross Check for a while, very light but quite pricey.

Downsides are probably cost, losing millions of eyelets and losing some clearance (depending on the fork)

  • How about just build an actual beater?

    lols.

  • Pretty much all 120mm Taiwanese track hubs can become 130mm with the addition of 5mm axle spacers.

    The chainline stays at 42mm.

  • I'll keep the originals for when i tour on it. but for general stuff I don't need the millions of eyelets.

those easton forks are nice but a little pricey!

    Kinesis' own is well priced.

  • Genesis croix fork available for 100 @ eighteen bike. 401a-c straggler is 400. Guard mounts disc fork, not too heavy. Weight is about 700g with uncut steerer.

  • My thoughts (already echoed by others) is that this is too much bike to be a beater.

In your place I would buy a pompino, or some other cheap sscx frame and build it up myself.

  • Loaded up the Croix with timber for the first time today.

Fish-tailed horribly at times, but I can definitely carry more on this than I used to on the Aluminium Vapour.

  • Nice work! Especially the harlequin taping on the timber.

  • Considering getting a 'long vehicle' sign, and maybe one that says "do not pass on the inside", or maybe "If you can't see my mirrors, that's because I don't need them because I have 360 degree visibility but that doesn't mean you can be a dick"

  • how the hell do you pedal with 20cm of timber between the frame and your leg? Looks like you're going jousting or something...

  • It was more like 90mm, but yes it was it was a little uncomfortable, I was glad to be wearing jeans as my inner thigh was rubbing on the timber. I run big wide cranks on the croix, so my feet are quite far apart which helps. Still cheaper and quicker and more fun than the train or a hired van. As for the jousting, yes, if anyone cuts me up the front end of the timber is at about the right height to take out a rear light.

  • Not as much wood, certainly more manageable.

  • Anyway, after I got my wood in the front door, I gave my boyfreind a good buggering.

  • That's more like it. LFGSS euph standards have been slipping.

  • That Firefly with the Rohloff is amazing!

  • Potts 650b...
