Having said that, I'd probably buy a CDale track for a lot of money given half a chance and that's much that same thing, so who am I to talk...
I like my dale more than I liked the gansta.
so...
there you have it.

People who hate them expect magic, it's just a bike, give it a break.
I'd expect magic if a used frameset is being sold for £1k
It never failed at anything I wanted it to do, anything from muddy fun to 100 miles ride.
So does Pinnacle Arkose ..

I do love mine, but would love to try some other style frames like the dale or a pista….

Mentioning a Pinnacle Arkose in here is just plain silly...

Fair enough an old V1 going for £1000 is silly money but my brand new V2 cost slightly more that £500 even after shipping and customs. Think Indra got his for even less. With that in mind, I'm not sure that's a high price tag at all.
Admittedly riding 200 miles on it in one go was a bit daft as it's relentlessly stiff (HTFU) but it's probably still the bike I'd pick above all others I've owned. Looks daft and is practical.. Good combo!

Ha, he's at it again. There's a reason he's been on ignore for over a year.

yeah, it ain't that

Yes; now they go for silly money but they are mad fun and very versatile compared to most brakless Fixie bikes.
If they made a v2 in 59 and I could get it new for what I paid for my last one I probably would.
I know you can get a pretty similar ride from a pomp or something but it's just not quite as cool or fun. And seriously @amey you've never bought something for more money than you could have got an unbranded or slightly heavier alternative for? ;)

Gangstas are also great as travel bikes that you can just throw in a bag and not worry about being damaged.
Rode mine in 3 or 4 different countries.

Anyone aware where to look for a gangsta track frame these days?
-
• #2639
I understand there might be one complete in Skinny Eric's in Hackney Wick but this may be a vicious rumor
also this one failed to sell recently - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Brooklyn-Machine-Works-Gangsta-Track-V1-RARE-Fixed-Gear-204-BMW-NOS-Stem-/251861337488?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aa41b0590&nma=true&si=vhrgU9IkvqyA7hRYlI0pg2ctuyA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
but don't do it...seriously, unless you can get a frame for under £500 it's really not worth it imo

thanks for the advice mate

I agree with this, for about 600 you could just get a replica or similar bike built out of nicer tubing in whatever size you like.

I just got one off ebay for what sounds like a good price given what people are saying in this thread.
Best place to watch by the looks of it

Love my Version 2, set up with either risers or drops. Rides great, love the way it corners. Spotted it in a shop window and new it had to be mine.
Not had that happen since i was a kid. You can crunch the numbers, weigh up the pros and cons, yet at the end of the day, bikes you end up keeping, bikes you connect with, are rare. Worth the cost imo.

What happened to the V1 for a k? I didn't go on the forum for five days and it vanished
His luggage will be heavy on the way home.
