  • I'd prefer not to have to spend lots by getting a new saddle but I guess I beam might be an option. Thomson is also more than i want to spend. But I guess there is nothing between £10 and £80 seatposts in that stupid size.

    I think it's the amount I hVe showing and maybe something about my technique/mad power because I have also bent a 27.2 and snapped a seatpost bolt on my hybrid bike. Could also just be a heaviness thing...

  • Thomson posts are often reduced to £40-£50 by CRC etc, not sure whether 25.4mm would be a size that's stocked enough to be included in a sale though.

    mass + leverage + dynamics = excess peak torque at the clamping point. Lose weight, get a frame which fits or ride more smoothly (or all three).

  • Thomson would be your best bet, IIRC the inner of the post is machined oval and hence much stronger compared to standard posts.

  • The I-beam 25.4 is impossible to find apart from a short BMX one, I ended up having Ste's old one
