There's an easy solution to this. Tubeless.

If I want to take the suppleness to max can I try 42c with latex?
-
• #1179
Yup, I currently run with Schwalbe SV12, but during muilt-day audax, I use the Michelin Air Comp, the difference is that I have to pump it up weekly instead of monthly on the 42mm tyres, I was able to get away with running it at the same pressure as I would on the normal tube (40psi instead of 30psi), a significant difference in those ride.
@sumo if you can provide a massive selection of tyres that I can run tubeless with, that would be great.

On the subject of latex tubes - I recently switched tyres from 28mm Conti Gator Hardshells to 35mm Schwalbe Marathon Supremes with the aim of improved comfort. I'm finding the Supremes disappointingly dead feeling so far. Would using latex tubes give any improvement in suppleness, or would it be unnoticeable under all that touring rubber?
I'm not even sure whether the whole thing isn't just all in my head to be honest.

If you're used to the notion that road buzz = fast, then you're in for a real disappointment.
FWIW it took me a good year to get rid of that conventional wisdom when I switched to lightweight 32mm.

Yeah, I keep telling myself that. It's probably a big dollop of placebo as well. On uphill drags into the wind I'm thinking "these tyres are slow" where I would normally be thinking "do I have a puncture?"

Have a look at your computer, that's usually help when it said you're doing a steady 30km/h despite feeling like you're doing 20km/h.

Latex tubes in Marathons would be a waste of time.

And I'm jealous of the Powertapped Brompton

Saw somebody standing at the roadside today who said he was waiting for powertap to calibrate. Would that not be a bit of a hindrance on the commute?

They auto-zero when you coast.. not sure why you'd recal mid-commute.

Thinking of trading the mavic tyres

They'd be better than Mavic, probably worth it. I suspect Specialized get their tyres made by Vittoria tread pattern and tpi is similar. Want to get my hands on the fabled Turbo Cotton that Tony Martin has used, but it seems like vaporware at the moment.
There's your problem.
Sigma is basically a high end Evans.
