Presumably, just like the fairing on the back of the Selle Italia Iron which seems to serve the same purpose. At least the tail extension on the Tritone does a job for triathlengers by holding their bottles. I don't know what the point of the UCI minimum saddle length is, though.

I don't know what the point of the UCI [equipment rule] is, though.

I thought the answer was always £££/$$$/€€€ etc.
