The softshell is a great all-round winter jacket. I bought one four years ago, wear it every winter with a base layer and if I get a bit warm I just open up the pit zips. Keeps me dry and warm and I don't mind wearing it in the pub. They designed it back when they were trying to make clothing that was technical and practical and not fluorescent roadie budgie smuggler kit, and it works great for that. The brand has moved on, of course. But it's great for what it was designed for IMHO.
The Golden Question: What is a realistic alternative to the Rapha Softshell Jacket, in terms of style and function? I'm contemplating the £240 price tag mainly because of the lifetime guarantee to fix their items if they get torn from a fall, for example. Obviously, I'd rather not part with that much £, but i just cannot seem to find an alternative.
Anyone?!
