Would definitely be interesting to see what would happen if the UCI got rid of all the rules.

Recumbents

Ha true. Some rules then.

Elbow cups attached to the frame? Would be interesting to see if you could actually ride that, triantelopes have enough trouble staying upright without having the bike try to wrestle them to the ground.

I picked up a cycling magazine yesterday while waiting for the PO to open. There was an article about Moulton track bikes and how they were banned by the UCI but in fact have had previously been recorded as beating 'full sized' bikes on the track.
Moulton's subsequent business success was hampered by the ban on 'small' bikes and wheels. Here is there latest track offering.....

Magnets.

I thought of that but not with carbon spokes. I'm not that stupid! ;)

Seen the D-Fix? Remove wheel, leave cassette on frame...

Much proprietary. So expense.

You see that sort of thing in a few places. For eg I've seen rejigged bikes to run a knife sharpening wheel in Colombia and Bolivia. Although that one at least looks like you could still ride it after, rather than it being forever static.

Mobile knife grinders in this country used to have bicycles which served as both transport and power tool.

No real innovation going on here: (apart from the removable brake cable holder and the embedded nfc tag obvs)

But I needed to make fun of this somewhere:
Chromoly - More and more bicycles have bulky aluminium or carbon fibre frames. For real quality and appearance, we decided to use lugged chromoly frames. Old steel frame style = a thoroughbred.
I wonder how suitable front and rear wishbone suspension would be a on a full suspension MTB with a gearbox like a Pinion
