I used to work with the star witness, about 10 years back. Keen member of Critical Mass, even back then. Very intolerant of helmet wearers ;)

Is that the IT whiz Bruce who used to sort out all my (IT) problems? I do miss you.

  • wow what a story.

i am so pleased they were found not guilty.

a bit of a concern though that it went all the way to court.

    well done to brenda puech.

  • "baring teeth" ?

  • A driver assaulted me on a Saturday afternoon in June- got out of the car, grabbed me, yelled abuse, threatened to kill me. Got 2 witnesses, made a complaint to the police, they charged the driver with common assault, use of threatening words/ behaviour to cause harassement, alarm or distress, and driving without due care and attention. He pleaded not guilty, case goes to trial on the 25th of October.
Hopefully the case will be judged on what happened, rather than the race, class and chosen mode of transport of those involved.

  • The moral of the story is roll deep (ie. bring your own witnesses).

  • Got 2.

  • Good luck Kate. You should not need it, wish you it anyway.

  • Ta. I'm not actually that concerned- it's the CPS's case, not mine. Quite interested to see how it all pans out.

  • Good attitude... less likely to get upset by an outcome you may not like. Hope it goes well.

I was shunted intentionally this summer near Museum Street. I overreacted and nearly got locked up myself. Cops were shite. Long story.

  • ^i'd forgotten about this. sounds like it can only go one way tbh

  • ^that was at kate

  • Best of luck with that, katie.

  • "baring teeth" ?

He's not baring his teeth, he's yawning after his afternoon nap (check the filename).

See, these things are definitely open to interpretation.

  • He's definitely stretching.

  • Good luck, Kate. I get really nervous about these situations; I've yelled at people, Guapo has yelled at people. He's a lot bigger than I, though, so I always fear he'll get in more trouble than I will...

Thanks for the writeup, Oliver. I really wish I'd been able to read this, and have experience of being in situations within the mental health system, prior to going to court with our ex-landlord. I think things might have turned out differently.

Also, what is this "common hand signal" that lets drivers know you know they're behind you? The only one I use is flat hand with palm towards car, gesturing backward, saying, in my mind, Don't Pass Me.

  • In particular, an important notation was that she answered "I don't know" to a series of questions.

  • I got shunted from behind at a set of red lights where pedestrians where crossing. The driver had been revving his engine and sounding his horn while I was decelerating to come to a stop at the lights. I called the Police s the driver felt he was right to hit me from behind and wanted to leave the scene. Rounded up 3 witnesses and took photos of the damage to bike.

    Not enough evidence to pursue.

This and various offer situations have lead me to conclude that this country is a joke and I might as well emigrate.

    do it.
    my partner and i are.
fuck this sinking ship, we're taking our sought-after skills sets and bailing.
guess we'll be part of some kind of statistical "brain drain" that will be blamed on the recession, but it's not about economics (which are effecting the country we're moving to like practically every other)
It's about the sad and terminal decline of a country that could have reinvented itself as a model affluent and liberal society after the overdue decline of it's empire but has chosen to slide into disrepair, disrepute and borderline kleptocracy.
and seems to hate bikes and cyclists……

  • Interesting and very well written digest.

Seems to me that if dangerous and illegal behaviour towards cyclists is disregarded by police, then one can expect frustrations and this kind of altercation. Unacceptable conduct towards cyclists appears to be ignored by police, so dangerous behaviours become more common and frustration builds. There is a real problem that police aren't doing their job - e.g. enforcing ASZs, taking action against dangerous driving towards cyclists etc.

There seems to be a very negative attitude towards cyclists by police (at least in London). That's something that has to be tackled - which probably means addressing this at a political level - i.e. making this an issue for MPs and councillors - who can then put pressure on at senior levels of Met and City of London police, including setting police priorities.

  • Wow, what a life in the UK.
There is more to come in this case on May 11th 2015 at The Royal Courts Of Justice 4 day hearing with Jury. Main Courier has taken it the whole way...Very Interesting

  • Me Too!! The Truth is the Officer used power against these 2 cyclists.. Main Cyclist tells it as it is, and the officer sitting in the dock? Was that not the sign into who was lying?

  • Wow Oliver!! Nice one : )
The case has stepped up a notch! May 11th 2015 @ Royal Courts Of Justice.. A 4 day hearing...With Jury, Main Cyclist has applied more gas.

  • Wow Oliver!! Nice one : )

    Thanks.

What's the case about now? The behaviour of the police officers?

  • Yep!! He has denied pushing the cyclist, and really the main cyclist is after him for his dis~respect....

  • Of course the officers are wrong here.... Infact the cyclist is going for disciplinary actions and compensation against the met.

  • I guess you wrote this up before so I guess you would agree for it to be taken to high court as it has now been done.. You should write about it : )
