  • people have, done this, i think one mention was a giant-aplecin rider that i forget the name off, but like you say there was a red herring that meant it couldn't have been him

  • This. And small things like saying he's going home after the oz/middle east races. I bet he's Australian or North American.

  • Koen de Kort has been mentioned as one possible candidate.

  • one guy in the comments mentioned Greg Henderson, which would correlate with the above, and his dislike for Bouhanni (Griepel's leadout man).

I reckon it changes, they probably have two or three which is enough to put the scent off

  • Gaviria to Quickstep. He looked pretty sharp in the omnium at the track worlds.

  • and especially sharp beating the team's current king sprinter twice in the Tour of San Luis. That's what got Lefevere's attention (and Gaviria's invitation to try out)

  • Apparently he was already on their radar and Cav urged them to get on and sign him.

  • whilst he beat Cavendish, he's peaking for his season when he did, that race was the big one for him in the road season, for more proof he's just won the WC Omnium where he beat Viviani. Cav literally had just started his season.

Will be interesting to see what they do with him though, a few gt's until the Olympics, let him do that then take over from Cav?

  • Bet it would have been all three sprints but for a quiet word re. contract

  • keep your enemies close, eh?

  • So predictions for Omloop? Stannard defending champ, a strong Sky squad, could lightening strike twice? Anyone know what the conditions are likely to be?

  • Niki

  • Damn his hide

  • It's an annual Belgian tradition that, after Boonen has smashed it up the Taienberg, that Ettix-Quick Step then go awol and fail to get a good result.

  • Hard to pick this year - the only real form riders have been the sprinters and I can't see Kristoff being allowed to stay with the front group.

I'll go with Van Avermaet or Stybar if its horribly wet.

A guy on Bikeradar said he'd ridden the last 70km and the cobbled sections were in a right old mess.

  • too bad Lars Boom won't be there this time to add to that spectacle

  • Inevitable question: does anyone know of any channel that is showing Omloop? Steephill doesn't have any info yet. Was planning on using Tunnel Bear to get access to any European channels that are geo restricted.

  • Normally just have to look at steephill on the day, Sporza will likely be showing it though

  • Sporza 100%, as @Kompute says steephill, or alternatively https://www.procyclinglive.com/livestream/

  • Cheers.
Did look at Sporza yesterday but couldn't work out what their schedules said.

  • Hola extension for Chrome works sometimes too

"OmloopHNB, you CAN watch in UK on @CyclingTV. I’ll be commentating for Hosts."

  • Subscription only though.

  • Which is an utter waste of money in my experience.

Although, to be fair, this was 8 or 9 years ago.
