  • Normandy high flange hubs on Weinmann Concave tubulars rims.

You can see them on my flickr album:

  • OK, so an update. It would appear that my somewhat over zealous searching for brakes on ebay has left me with options, as I've won 3 auctions for brakes in a week (so far!)

Anyone any thoughts as to preferences.?

  • I'm leaning towards Resilion right now, as lucky skull suggested, but as I've only won a rear I may fit another until a front comes up on ebay- they seems to be rather rare so this could take a while.

Anidel, if you want to take whichever is left over after I choose for your holdsworth you can if it fits and you want at the price I payed for it.

  • Are you sure it is a rear Resilion?

It does look a D shape front one to me, but I might be wrong.

If it were a front one, you might no be able to fit it as it is a D shape one and your fork blades are round as far as I can see, which wont be a good fitting.

Of the other two Monitor looks nicer.

  • I'm not totally sure it's rear no. Photo isn't great as you can see. to be honest I did think it may be front due to the short looking cable, but not having experience with these brakes and their special cables I wasn't sure. Guess I'll just have to wait until I try it when it arrives-havn't actually received it yet.

  • i am a sucker for resilion, they are of the right age and look great...... that said, i second ElGato, the Monitor looks very nice. do you have a pair?

edit: its going to be fixed, you will only use a front?

  • Ah, ok. I was just judging by the picture. It will clearer once you've received them.

  • I like the Monitor too :)

  • Was thinking that it might be only a front in the end, yes. I kind of like the idea of it looking something like this:

  • that looks like a good direction to be heading. lauterwasser bars?

  • Thought about lauterwassers but went for bailey in the end. Bit deeper and still got a nice look and feel to them. Have wrapped them in black cotton bar tape.
Would add a photo but camera is dead

  • camera working yet? pictures?

  • I'm afraid not, no. Which is a shame as I'm away for work all next week in the U.S.
So all pictures, and me will have to wait until 2nd week of March to see what's going on, assuming I can get the camera fixed then.
Still on the plus side the wheelset should be built by then, so we'll just have to fit it all together and try things out.

  • Ok, so I'm back with a working Camera, so here are some updated photos. I decided to go for the single monitor brake with a b.s.a lever after some trying out of options:

  • Everything fitted so far. Just waiting for my wheel set which is lost waiting to be built up at my local bike shop, which has apparently closed down whilst I was away..
Hopefully will be able to get inbuilt or get the hubs/rims etc back soon. If anyone knows Tom from Caballo Bikes on Chatsworth Road, Homerton, or how to get in touch with him, please let me know ASAP, as I'm rather worried about my wheels to say the lease-can't really afford to loose them at all!

  • Very nice!
Hopefully you'll get your wheel set soon!

  • Sp, it seems like my original wheel set has gone missing with the shop closing down, despite many texts/emails/calls to Tom the mechanics phone and email.
So I 've finally bitten the bullet and bough a set from Hilary Stone- Solite small flange gearsided/fixed on dunlop alloy rims, 26 1 1/4.

They arrived at work on friday and I got them home today.
Will clean them up later and add some photo's, so a nice night of putting together and tinkering beckons...

  • Some photos of the wheels on arrival
