..speaking of great affordable zooms - just remembered this one, which should fit your "cheaper / allround" criteria perfectly.
I've shot with this a few times, and it's really good:

..really like the first one. First I just enjoyed the light, then how the frame is divided up in those different areas.
Neat.

I've got the 23mm (35mm equivalent) for sale, happy to work a bit on that price if you'd be interested.

Thanks, still too nervous to pull the GR out very much at those temps.

This came with my camera, but the reason for getting something like the Tamron 17-50 is the f2.8 through out.

I think your 35mm would have been better, thats a bit short sorry.
