  • Also interesting - Maas Van Beek (crazy guy, holder of the derny paced hour record and rides an 80t wonky chainring) is out in Mexico and has said on Facebook that he thinks Dekker won't get it - saying that he can't hold the black line in the turns due to his aero position, and in training he tries to ride 17.0 laps (53kph) but keeps bailing out to 17.5 (51.5kph). Possibly an effect of going to altitude 2 weeks before (not ideal, couple of weeks longer would be better).

  • 2 weeks should be ok shouldn't it? From what I have read, acclimitisation to 2260 (7500ft) takes two weeks - and an extra week for each 610 (2000ft) above that.

Given that he is at ~1900m I would have expected two weeks to be sufficient - although the effects of altitude are VERY variable from person to person... perhaps one of the reasons Wiggins is reluctant to do his attempt at altitude, as he has spoken previously about having problems at altitude iirc.
