I'll be looking at some 71's then.
I have about 4 pairs of Nashvilles in various states (between 8 and 1 years old) , and was looking for a similar alternative.I couldn't get on with the uniqlo, they are more 501 style, and didn't fit as nice.
many thanks man.

I have some 71's in 32x32 that I had taken up/chain stitched at son of stag (from 34 leg) that I just have never really worn (should've sized up and had the waist taken in) £40 for those on this thread

Grey Gustin 33s for sale if anyone is interested. Bought on here and not worn since I got them. Worn last night and they definitely don't fit at all. Looked liked I'd borrowed them off my dad.
I understand that's probably not selling them particularly well but honesty is the best policy. They aren't as slim as I thought and are too long for me.

Had a selvedge splurge today, was in Harrogate randomly and TK Maxx had 2 pairs Ralph Laren (now hold on...) Denim & Supply Raw Selvedge £50 each. I picked up the 33 x 34 but they had a 32 x 34 left. They are a bit skinnier than I normally wear but nice jeans.
Then got some Edwin ED-55 Raw 140z and a fe nice shirts from The Mandon Store who have their shop in Harrogate but a mainly online business. What a great shop, Henry the owner proper nice guy.

i'm not sure the style mafia will approve!
for some reason lauren and hilfiger stuff just 'fits', and it's a damn sight cheaper than the 'authentic' demin proselytised here..
keep up the good work ;)

I don't mind the look of those Denim & Supply but I've been spoilt by TKMaxx's occasional £25 LVC bargains...
-
• #1909
i live in harrogate! might have to pop in and look at those tkmaxx ones

They had a few of the Ralph denim and supplys in Lewisham last week in 34's also loads of Superdry Selvedge (has there even been a shitter brand on this earth?)
Grabbed a pair of the Gustin 17oz Japanese they had for a bargain 74 dollars yesterday

I grew up in Wetherby, always loved Harrogate, lovely place.

I've got some denim and supply straight, they're alright actually

If anyone just wants to take those gustins I mentioned above off my hands then please let me know. You can have them for buttons. I won't wear them. (Bought here: http://www.lfgss.com/comments/11824892/ )
In other news, went for a pair of the uniqlo just for kicks, to see what they're like, at £34.99.

what do buttons equate to in sterling?
-
• #1915
Not much. I paid £52 IIRC but as I'm not going to wear them then I'd take whatever I can get as there is no point them sitting in my wardrobe.

Question: the nice fitting new selvedge jeans I bought in the charity shop better not get washed if I want to keep wearing them?
-
• #1917
i would wash them and them wear them for a solid week to mould to my shape to see how they look, i think the whole don't wash your jeans thing is quite a lot of hype, i wash them when they start to smell and have 12 pairs on rotation - some go through the wash once a month probably, they won't last as long but they have faded to a colour and shape that i like so all good. I do find every six months or so i crave a fresh pair of dry indigo selvedge though!

Unbranded selvedge in TK Maxx Brixton last week for £20 a throw.
And a bit of spamming, anyone want the blue ones on here - https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/262619/#comment12103895 ?
-
• #1919
Exactly why not to wash them. If you wash them you lose the raw indigo look so no surprises you want a new pair every 6 months.
I really only wear my jeans at the weekend, though non stop, so I don't feel any pressing need to wash them anyway.

Thanks, the question was a very practical will they shrink when washed? In which this they would not fit me anymore after washing.
-
• #1921
any activity other than posing will impart sweat into them, and if not washed then it'll accelerate the rate of decay, or crotch blow-out

this.
And then a trip to denim doctor. -
• #1923
absolutely, once they stink they need to be washed unless you like the smelly tramp feel, i wear jeans every day so makes sense for me
as for the shrinking i find they only shrink a fraction and then it gets stretched out after one wear so it's not an issue

p.s my collection are a mix of edwin / nudie / unbranded / natural selection but my 3 daily wears on rotation are all DSdundee/fallow, really gutted to see them not trading at the moment :( anyone recommend a similar jean? i hear good things about Huit but worried they'll be too loose in comparison

Typical, I've taken my eye off the prize recently...
For me ED-71 is close but the rise isn't as high and therefore not quite as comfortable - it's a reasonable alternative if you cannot get Nashvilles
ED-47 just felt too loose at waist and opening at bottom of leg
ED-55 is quite tapered at leg
I like Sen's but they are low rise
Non Edwin:
I like the cut of the "made in japan" uniqlo selvedge jeans from a while back, rise is mid to high although the length is a little short for me and can only get a short turn up - quite difficult to source though in unwashed/new
At risk of being flamed I have a pair of paul smith selvedge jeans which have a high rise like the Nashville and really comfortable although they are straight leg with no taper - no idea of which model they are though and if other PS selvedge is similar
Having said all that, like you Nashvilles seem to be my favourite cut though. It's difficult to find them for less than retail - I got a brand new pair from ebay a few weeks ago for about £75 but I'd been waiting and watching for several months.
