    I have no empirical proof, but it seems to me that the average road user has become much more aware of and polite to cyclists than used to be the case, particularly since a few cyclists have won a lot of medals.

    Thank the car driver who moves over to let you pass, say 'after you' to the ped on the crossing, spread a little sunshine and goodwill.

    Good post. I have noticed this in drivers too, and try to behave the way you describe.
