• Got a bit of time on this today. Generally good condition and lots of original parts. Downtube lever bosses are an odd shape, I.e. not square - has anyone seen this before? Seems like a proprietary thing, as they don't take normal cable stops or levers. It may be that the original levers had special bases as they were odd MTB dpwntube levers. May buy some as the current bodge is ugly as. Other option is to file back the bosses to square so I can fit anything on, though this seems pretty brutal.

Dunno what happened to the cockpit as the bars were some horrible BSO steel jobbies, as were the levers. Not sure how I feel about aero levers on this but eh, it's what I had and they work better anyway.

Shame about the saddle to bar drop, vertical rise stem maybe? These only came in 54 and 58.

Lovely frame though, weighs a fucking tonne - 13kg as pictured.

It's a rare RaleighUSA 650b tourer, for those who didn't see the original post. I paid £150 - seller paid £12 at auction!

  • I saw the listing for that, nice. Been looking for a raleigh randonneur for ages. 650b though, must be rare.

  • Yeah, they only made them for a couple of years. They seem to fetch silly money on eBay USA.

I haven't managed to finish the build yet but it seems to run really nicely!
