I did a quick calc at the roundabout. Based on his assertion that he didn't see me until I entered the roundabout because I was travelling too fast then I must have been doing 60mph. Now I like to think I'm quick...maybe even break the 20mph mark on the flat some times. But I'm not frickin' roadrunner!

Had my first proper crash since starting commuting 6 months ago. Was coming down a bus lane in streatham (before 7 so cars not allowed in it).
Guy in corsa turns and indicates at same time into bus lane to try and go down the inside of traffic.
I veer to the left hit the rear left of his car hard, then hit the kerb bounce about a bit and just manage to keep the bike upright. He drives straight off, luckily nice cyclist behind me sees the whole thing. Have the guys reg and a witness, no damage to me or the bike I think (maybe a bruised arm). Currently looking into how I report this heinous crime!

Hit and run for starter.

Yeah i'm good man just a bruise I think... Nelson seems fine too on first inspection, think my arm / shoulder took most of the impact. Whole right side of my body is starting to ache which i'm a little worried about, but it does that normally so hard to tell...
@fizzy.bleach all over this, currently looking at which form to fill in and going to drop into the police station tomorrow morn on the way into work.
@edscoble yep indeed, wac. No way he/she didn't see / here it either as it was quite a thump

Had to pop into St Thomas's for a blood test then walked along the South Bank, crossed Waterloo Bridge before passing the Fashion Week lovelies at Somerset House... Now I'm in a Wetherspoon's in Chancery Lane for breakfast while I wait for my favourite watch shop to open up... Then it's a short trot to Mansion House and an easy day of work... 20/10

First commute since April last year, empty streets on the whole, no idiots, enjoyed it. Need to work on a route from E & C to the top of Tottenham Court Road though.
No rating out of ten, I'm not a twat.

Oh YES you are!

Congrats on getting a job though. Is that a good thing?

I think it's fantastic that as a society we're helping older folk back into work after they've been unemployed for a while.

• #5165
It was quiet out there today....

• #5166
Too quiet..

Curiously quiet road this morning.
Good to see the police out on one of the cycle superhighways talking to cyclists about safety whilst two massive trucks parked in the superhighway just behind them.

Man that sucks, hope you heal up ok. Good plan to report, driving off after something like that is unimaginable!

He might not keep it if he keeps logging on here

Stopped at a red light this morning and a van pulled up behind me. When I say behind me, his front bumper was 5cm from my back wheel. I turned to give him "the look" (I used to teach, I have a good disapproving look) and he revved his engine. As I turned away he inched his van closer so he was almost-but-not-quite touching my wheel.
"What the fuck are you up to?" I said.
"Dickhead!"
"U wot mate?"
"Fucking prick!"
"I hope your penis rots and falls off"
I decided to get out of there right then and spent the rest of the commute thinking about how London is a horrible place. -

Pleasant ride in until I get to Southwark Bridge, decide to stay on the road bit rather than the blue part due to a number of cyclists already slow going across. No cars in front of me so I was going a good clip across, heard a car beeping ignored it. Stop at the lights Addy Lee driver in a Merc going red in the face about how I should be on the blue part and not the road. Explained that I could ride where I liked, he then decided to cut very close to me as we both turned right. What a prize dick absolutely no need for it.
Wil cross that Bridge again 8/10

1Hr 27Mins 01Sec. 20.1 miles NW Kent to Holborn. 2nd time this week. Winter has taken it's toll, I used to do it in under 1Hr 20mins in Autumn. Even picked a quiet week to start riding into the metropolis again but still failed time-wise.

You're slower in winter. Considering that conditions in autumn were pretty good, you've probably improved. Every bit of riding you do in winter helps you in the summer. Well done, a great commute.

Avoiding Torrington Place amazing two way cycle lane bollocks:
Waterloo Bridge, Drury Lane, Museum St, Gt Russell St, Montague St, Woburn Square, Gordon Square,Gordon St, Gower Pl, Grafton St, TCR.
Sounds shit! Just to add to everyone else's comments that it's a 20mph zone round there, so if he was late for work there's a chance he could have been speeding too. Impossible to prove mind...
