The sound on them really isn't bad at all (relatively speaking) plus they have buttons for volume and a mic for calls.
Not sure about shops. I would have thought that most would more likely carry the more expensive versions like these:
They aren't bad for the price at the moment either...

I use one of these that you can plug normal phones into http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-HS3000-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset-Black/dp/B004XYI998 (I use in-ears with a short cable).
I also have the m-pow ones which seem ok but I've not really used them.
I also have some Sennheiser PXC310 BT. Pricey but they've had a lot of use and are still going strong. They don't seem to be on sale anymore, I think these are the current version http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headphones-Compatibility-Black/dp/B007K3SB6K/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

"it's the addition of MoS2 solid lubricant which makes it better than lithium greases without EP additives"
Better how though? Is it slipperier? Does it wash out slower? Spread better? I dunno - what properties are good in a bike grease?

Ah, it seems you've just answered my question.
Unfortunately it means I now have to go and relube everything on 8 bikes...
Thanks. Thanks a bunch, lube nerds.

Wake on USB. I've googled this but there seems to be a whole wealth of useless stuff out there.
I have a Windows 8 desktop running Kodi (Xbmc) that I want to wake up when I press a button on the remote (it has some generic IR receiver plugged into USB that works fine for controlling Xbmc).
Is it just a matter of turning it on (in the BIOS?) or are there some windows settings, does it need a specific key on the remote, etc? Cheers

hth
I haven't looked for a while,
but the better lube manufacturers, Kluber and possibly Fuchs
may well have a fully synthetic MoS2 containing grease
avoiding the wash out potential of a soap thickened mineral oil based grease.Anyone else for a 'lube nerd' t-shirt and celebratory ride?

"is one of the most lubricious substance in world"
I love it when you talk dirty.
But it's a powder. Ain't nobody got time for dat. Just show me where I buy a tube of grease from.

My first glance guess is an illegal mine of some sort. Possibly gold, but could be lots of things. Also it could of course be legal, but given it's location my guess is not.
The TL:DR answer to the question you didn't ask, is that modern satellite technology is increasingly enabling (near) real time monitoring of global forests to detect illegal activities in remote regions, and websites like Global Forest Watch are trying to bring this data to a wide public. Interestingly, if you look at that same spot on the GFW site (here if it works...) it seems to suggest that the area was cleared pre 2001, and that it seems to be partly regenerating. However also notice how one of the pools has been mis-classified as regenerating forest, highlighting the difficulties of remote classification.

The GFW sounds really interesting, I'm gonna have to look at that properly.
I did wonder if it was some sort of mine - that would be a pretty big achievement if it is, in terms of getting all the machinery to the middle of nowhere. Thats kind of how I found it, by looking at the Amazon and trying to find the most remote spot. Looks like whoever made that did the same thing before hand.

Lots of possible scenarios as to how they might have got equipment in. The most likely is floating it up the network of small rivers under the canopy. If you zoom out a bit, you can see what look like 'crinkles' in the landscape and those are often small river channels, one of them runs very close to the site. In fact it looks like it may be connected to the Rio Curimata de Baixo just to the north. Also, you wouldn't necessarily need a lot of equipment. A lot of illegal mining is small scale and artisanal. I've been in an illegal gold mine in Cambodia that was probably bigger, and certainly less remote than the one shown here, but about the only heavy machinery they had was a generator (although I couldn't see what it was powering... maybe a water pump). Most of the work was done manually, and the mine was home to a tented camp of about 100 people.
Another interesting aside is that if you zoom out a bit, you can see that the texture of the forest is slightly different (slightly smoother) in two patches extending ENE and WSW of the camp. I don't know but my guess is that this shows that the larger trees have been removed from these areas. Either way, one of the clever ways that the computer algorithms designed to identify deforestation work is that they try to identify these smoother areas where the large trees have been slectively removed. However, last time I talked to someone who knows about this, they were still a long way behind the human eye.

I need to replace the chainring on a Token track chainset. I've tried both gebhardt and a token chainring and neither will fit. Both are 144bcd as needed. It's enough out that it can't be levered on. The spider seems ever so slightly too big.
I'm thinking my only option is to file a little bit of each tab on the crank. I know that you can do this. Any other ideas before I get started?

Some people, like clockwise, have really cool geometric patterned avatars. Where can I get one?

• #66549
Just delete your personalised avatar and you'll be issued with a random geometric one.

Right click my avatar and save as, upload it into the space. Do it quick I'm trying to change it to a photo.
Walking to and from work.
To be honest, those are much cheaper than I was thinking. But I mostly listen to podcasts, so that may be the way to go (so thanks for the link!).
I was sort of hoping to pick some up on my way home from work today, if possible. I wonder if they're in shops at all...
