Has anyone managed to source different aero bar extensions? Going to get the Hong Fu TT/Pursuit bars, but don't like ski extensions, rather R or flat. All i can find is glossy carbon on Planet X or too expensive for everything else.

what size seatpost clamp do i want for my hong fu? 27.2 seat post therefore maybe a 26.8mm clamp?

You're gonna need an inverse shim.

My 30mm x 23mm Farsports clincher rims are in Coventry awaiting customs clearance. I got lucky last time avoiding any charges as they were marked as samples. What seems to be the going rate if I do get stung?

Just took a punt on a VCLS seatpost and ENVE drops. I'm not trying to trick anyone but its nice to have replicas of parts that I would never normally be able to afford
-
• #3262
I just don't understand that mentality. You might as well just draw the logos you want onto your existing components in Tipp Ex.
-
• #3263
I imagine you're probably in the wrong thread then. Aren't most parts posted here based on big brand parts?
I've never really cared what other people think of my bike but it puts a smile on my face when I think it looks cool. £400 handlebars are just ridiculous but when I can have them for £30 why not? -
• #3264
Of course they're ridiculous, that's why people just spend £30 on Deda bars.
but when I can have them for £30 why not?
But you don't have them? You have some other cheapo bars that someone has put some transfers on for you.
-
• #3265
I'd have bought decals if I wanted brand logos.
I don't already have a carbon fibre two piece seatpost to draw on. -
• #3266
Yeah it's just the whole "I got a £300 part for £30" thing that doesn't add up - you didn't. You got a £30 part for £30 really didn't you? Same as any other cheap part.
-
• #3267
Haha you're not getting me. Im not bothered about decals or logos. It's the shape and design. You can't get that any other way than real or replica. If I wanted plain compact drops I would have bought deda.
-
• #3268
Yes totally but it's a £30 part that has the design and features of a more expensive part.
This whole thread is £200 frames with di2 and disc road brakes etc. Is it not the same? Logos aside. -
• #3269
Yes totally but it's a £30 part that has the design and features of a more expensive part.
No. They have design like a more expensive part.
It's the same shape but perhaps not developed or tested as the original part will have been.
-
• #3270
Yes that's what I meant. It's much cheaper for a reason.
Still makes my bike look good for me and it gets ridden daily. I'm not trying to impress any middle aged men on the internet. -
• #3271
You're screwed. If you have ENVEish handlebars they'll hunt you down in cafés and make sweaty, enthusiastic small-talk as the endorphins kick in and their coffee is made.
-
• #3272
Haha what a treat. I'll report back whether they snap and kill me or not
-
• #3273
Yeah it's just the whole "I got a £300 part for £30" thing that doesn't add up
It isn't a £300 part for £30. Obviously. But having said that there's a well known brand(ok FSA) that had an integrated bar/stem combo that had a rrp of £300 odd and it transpired that the bars where in fact oem made for them by factories in china. The exact same bars could be bought for £80 without the FSA logos.
So in the "I got a £300 part for £30" the item is never truly worth £300. Much like anything ENVE produce is no where near worth its retail price.Dan dismisses the parts as "cheapo" but how many parts have you bought and used from these chinese factories? Have you tried them out your self and formed you own opinion on them? What makes you so sure the performance is sub par with ENVE?
Given Dans view point on chinese carbon that are one to one copies or approximations of well known items, you're obviously in the wrong thread for discussion. Arguments about "I got a £300 part for £30" have been done to death elsewhere. -

Are you guys really naive enough to think that the price of the product is just the production and material cost?
Enve is designed and manufactured in USA so that's invalid for argument.
Lets trek Trek as an example since you have taken the 'have you ridden it' pitch fork out. Yes I have a series 5 Madone. Its made in Taiwan. I also have another bike which is a copy of R3 also made somewhere far east.
Are they worlds apart? Yes.
Why? I think because the amount of R&D and design gone into Madone in Waterloo is massive compared to cheap knockoffs.
Was madone/cheap carbon bike worth its price? Because horses for courses.
If you are in love with expensive carbon why bother with cheap carbon? Same answer as above.Affordability and justification is a totally different issue. @dan is right.
I asked them for a quote and got an auto-reply saying they're closed till feb 27th for new year celebrations. Probs shut down their sales system.
