Yeah few of the forums seemed to say that the hardware on the tektros rusted pretty quick and that the shimano survived a bit better.

Girlfriend trash her bike regularly, got tektro brakes, rusting seemed to be a bit far fetched.

Rides totally awesome. Doesn't feel that slack actually. Will get it dirty tomorrow. I love new bike days..

Dredge time... I've lurked around on Ebay, on here etc for several months now and haven't found any secondhand steel that fits my requirements. And I've been riding my crosscheck and loving it, but not feeling the need for a matching second bike as much... so am now thinking of going custom Rychtarski or Orlowski. There have been some stunning Rych's around recently as you mentioned. And yours looks ace in 650 mode. I've sent some emails to get things started.

Going to pop this in here, rather than give it it's own thread...
Won a Strider bike for my daughter on Ebay, picked it up on Saturday, and the frame had a couple of scrapes that were worse that I had thought from the photos, but nothing terrible. Found a local place that had done spraying for a Cadburys campaign, and had a load of powder left over. Did a deal with the very nice chap, who's going to blast it, and recoat in Cadbury purple.
I'm now thinking on decals for it, is there anywhere good that will make up decals off of an image of my own at a good price?

Is that stick welded?

Wanna borrow my Roberts? It would probably fit you...

• #99622
Don't tempt me! Thanks, but I'll pass - I have my crosscheck to ride in the meantime, so I'm all good.

still had no joy replacing stay caps/joins on this
so i replaced the frame! i can use the old forks,cable guides as my alan built colnago carbitubo mono uses as well, and they can tend to tear easy, and will take the head tube lugging orf to replace on another with blue anodised tubes, which is quite a rare one as it's a roadie with the oval/flatter tt used on alan cx's, maybe factory anomaly ,
this is an earlier Alan Super record, as has lug cut outs, campag victory, black ambrosio rims, 8 speed regina free wheel with campag 8 speed brifters,cinelli stem and bars torn betwixt a rolls due and black cinelli bar tape,or brooks swift so can use me carradice bag, but may look bulbish, so a nice commuter-also
this is my self styled "shit bike" which I found at the salubrious Dartford dump, has comedy stem stack, found with larger sus forks, think was 700 or 29er, so changed for these steel straight rake ones

@edscoble
Seemed to be a recurring chat about the tektros rusting online, I've certainly seen the cheaper alhongas do it. The R650 ultegra rear was £24.99 and I just kept the front chorus brake. So not as if there was a massive amount in it, lots seemed to say the shimano was a better brake as well. Looks surprisingly ok fitted together as well. -

So if Alhongas equal Tektro, everything else is equal.
tektro rusting?
