Thx ds3000: I bought them in a local shop here, CX forks "EXS" but I do not see them anywhere else on the web: http://www.bicyclestore.fr/fr/fourches/10001061-exs-cyclocross-carbone.html

Road forks. On a pomp.
Yes?
Which ones?
Carbon obvs. -
• #4705
ill repost my pomp from cp
the seat feels interesting. And as ed mentioned in his elephant cp the amount of pressure a regular saddle puts on your manparts becomes immidiately aware the second you ride this kind of saddle. I've done some short runs with jeans, it feels hard but not harsh.

Road forks. On a pomp.
How come you want road forks?
-
• #4707
Because.
-
• #4708
Because I want proper mudguards.
My cross fork has no way of mounting mudguards. And this would mean two different forks = two different set ups. One for when I train/"race" cross. One for when I commute to work/"train" when cross is over.

Hey man, nice build. what width are those kojaks? they look maybe 32? how are you finding them on the al30s?
-
• #4710
you can use a p-clip or a zip tie. Way easier and cheaper than a new fork.
-
• #4711
How to mount on front fork?
-
• #4712
put these on fork legs
what kind of fork crown the fork has?
-
• #4713
Er pass.
As I can't see how that would help here.
There's nothing a zip tie could tie around. -
• #4714
Sell existing cross fork, buy a Kinesis PureCX which has both eyelets and a hole drilled in the crown to accept a mudguard bolt.
-
• #4715
Yes. That's the conclusion I think I may have reached.
-
• #4716
Chain Reaction have them in stock and with 10% off at the moment.
-
• #4717
Who wants to buy my existing cross fork?
-
• #4718
Not me.
-
• #4719
But you know the last two owners.
Wait. I see. -

Hi Brameses, the Kojaks are 35mm and it feels like snooker on the AL30s! BTW, they are listed as "balloon tyres" by Schwalbe: http://www.schwalbe.com/en/tour-reader/kojak.html
Very nice surprise with the AL30 wheels which for their price are super light and roll incredibly well: one pedal stroke is enough to get to the end of avenue de l'Opera =)

How is the lacquer on the 'raw' pompinos? Now that they're back in stock in my size I'm tempted!
-
• #4723
@Xavonseine cheers for the link, interesting that they have it under the tour section.. i'm guessing as it is a ballon tyre it is ok to have on a slightly narrower rim without the threat of it putting too much pressure on the rim walls? i have the al30s, mainly for cheapness but i'm going to be doing a bit of light touring, thinking of options before maybe buying a set of wider rims

The 'raw' finish is going to be less durable than regular paint but it looks way nicer imo.

Hmmm. The Kojaks are 35mm wide in their 28" size but 50mm in 26" i.e. these are real "balloon tyres" in this latter size only?
And Planet X says the AL30 are fine for 35mm: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPPXAL30DTR/planet-x-al30-d-track-wheelset
For the record, the usual tables mention that a 19mm rim like the AL30 can get tyres till 50mm!
But the AL30s are track wheels indeed.
I would say you can keep them for any tyre getting into a Pompino frame (i.e. till 35mm?) - but other guys here may think otherwise?
Edit : see however Heldring's comment next page and Sheldon: http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html

Great, cheers for the info!
I've got Cane Creek levers which I think might be similar to your old Tektro jobbies.
We do indeed have the same guards, so I reckon everything should fit fine :)
Here's a pic from last year, only changes have been Rubino Pro 35s, and the bottom 6 inches of front mudguard are missing. No idea where they went, or when (when I discovered the damage I hadn't seen the bike in daylight for about 2 months), but I assume I kicked it once too often. Need to make some kind of makeshift mudflap!
