I think if you get them fresh you will not find them smoky. That comes from the drying.
I am not sure if you have habaneros but scotch bonnets are pretty close and I think those are all over in your land. http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/read/1/173058.
I would like to make my own actually, so a simple recipe would be good. Not sure which chilli to use if I did, I did wonder about Naga previously but then I tried mr Naga:

If i knew where to get them fresh, they've got a really nice warm rounded smoked flavour.
