This frame actually suits me better than the original. It's a 21" which is my preferred size, and it's not quite so absurdly shallow. As I said above the original frame was made by Associated Motorcycles (Matchless/AJS) but this one is slightly later and was made by BSA. All parts, including the headset proved to be interchangeable.
I still find it surprising that I like this machine. However I've currently got two more projects under way which are basically similar (they will both be using 26x 1 and a quarter tyres). The first is a Rudge Roadster which is intended as a pseudo edwardian machine (that is an imitation of the Marcel Planes BSA) and the other is an inter war 'lightweight' which will use a Cyclo Standard three speed derailleur.
Since it's only possible to ride one bike at a time some of these are never going to get much use, so it will be interesting to see which one proves to be the most rideable.
