  • How many people are needed to warrant making a new batch? Even if it's just for the 1 1/4 cover?

  • In order to hit the current price point, I have to get them made in batches of at least 40, which can be mixed sizes. I keep common 1⅛" types in stock, so my restocking needs have a bearing on when I need to make a new batch, but at the moment I have plenty of stock.

  • Okay thanks tester, I think i'll give it a miss until there's some more interest for 1 1/4 caps.

  • You can add your name to the list if you want, it's short at the moment but every little counts. Might be getting quite short of 45mm soon with the new TT season coming and all those Cervelo P bikes needing slammed :-)

    Name - Bore - Diameter - Depth
    noiser - 1⅛ - 46 - 3

  • Yeh i'll add my name, but I don't know diameter or depth. What's the most slammed I can run?

  • The cover adds 1mm stack on top of the upper bearing collet. The depth measurement refers to the height of your upper bearing collet above the top of the head tube. See Post №1

  • Come on the rest of you. I've been waiting about 6 months.

  • Wouldn't it be quicker to buy an inverse shim? :-)

  • Had to post this. I'll admit to having sanded the top collet a smidge. But the result is worthy of the the ocd porn thread. Tricky to photo without pressure on it though.

  • what stem's that?

  • Not sure if you've spotted them in the top caps thread, but the length of that steerer suggests that you'll be using some spacers, and there are now lightweight ones which are diameter matched to the top caps for a neater look in case you end up with more than 2.5mm of steerer poking our of the top of the stem.

  • I'd like to get one of these for my girlfriends Caad10, would you have one I could use please?
    Edit; 47mm I believe

  • Any idea whether youd have one to fit a Trek Emonda SL?

Headset specs are 1 1/8" bore and the factory standard headset is an integrated 1 1/8" to 1.5" with a headset cover that looks exactly like:

  • Any idea whether youd have one to fit a Trek Emonda SL?

Measure the outside diameter at the top of the head tube and the height of the collet above the top of the head tube, as shown in the first post; it's likely that one of the sizes I have in stock will fit.

  • Steerer = 1 1/8"
Outside Diameter of existing top cap = 45.21mm
    Bearing Outside Diameter = 40.95mm
Bearing Stack height outside of frame = 2.58mm

    Sound about right?

Your beat-up caliper is a bit off, the bearings are 41.0mm :-)

The bearing is sitting a long way out of the frame, you need to measure to the top of the split collet which will add 1-2mm to the total height. That means that if you use a stock 45mm diameter by 2mm deep cover, there will be a largish gap from the rim of the cover to the top of the head tube. You can either live with that, or put your name on the list for custom depths, which are unlikely to be delivered much before Christmas at best.

  • Haha yeah there wasn't a split collet in between the bearing and the headset - forgot about those little fella's although I'm not sure they're actually used in the frames as that's two ive seen without them now!

  • How does the upper bearing stay centred without a collet? I've seen one or two designs which incorporate the collet into the upper cover, but that's clearly not the case here.

  • That was my thought aswell! I'm going to check one of the full builds!

  • Yeah missing the collet which is another 2mm

  • If you get one of my 45×2 covers, the bottom of the cover is going to be level with the top of the bearing. It's up to you to decide whether that's any better than just slamming the stem straight on to the collet

I can do 45×4 or whatever depth get the clearance to the right level, but as I say it won't be soon.

  • Il hold out for the meantime, maybe just sit it on the collet if needs be. Maybe just give my back a rest and use the stock one!

Thanks for the help anyway, very appreciated!

  • come on people get those custom orders in!

  • Got one for a specialised tricross? I imagine it's the same as a langster but might be wrong, I'll get my callipers out.

  • Slam in conjunction with top cap and spacers
