  • This is a massive issue. The fact that most cyclists are still conditioned to have a keep left, pass left mentality (Which is a major shift in mentality that happens after cycle training)

Even when the right side has no oncoming vehicles and there is a little gap to the left of the vehicle in front many still choose the small gap.

(Yesterday I was behind a guy on a black fixed (Surly?) proper on-here type, who repeated squeezed in gaps to the left over tower bridge, while I was passing right making eye contact with the drivers right side mirror so they moved left to give me even more space. Eventually he got stuck when a bus moved right next to the kerb to let me overtake)

This is so ingrained and would take a concerted campaign (like with seatbelts) to affect change. Which won;t happen at least with this government who refuse to fund any public information/behaviour change campaigns

  • refuse to fund any public information/behaviour change campaigns

Apart from the stickers on the backs of vehicles, or are they not government funded?

  • He's talking about a proper campaigns, like they have in Spain where they show an advert of how to overtake cyclists, lots of proper roadsign incidating this etc.

What did the British do? put a small sticker on the back of professional vehicles.
