  • Does anyone have any cheap thumbies? I don't want to spend the £20 it would take to get some off eBay for an XT set. Not after anything special, total parts bin fodder - I thought I had one.

    Any plastic friction shift one from an old BSO will work just as well, if you don't not having indexed shifting.

  • I don't even have that! Stuck the one I did have on my wife's bike. That's the issue with eBay - the only ones being sold are decent ones. Will try one of the many bike recycling places in York and raid their parts bin.

  • Where you at? I'll have a butcher in my part bin, got load of old shifter and brake levers from BSO destined for scrap.

  • @dglshrn well will you look at that, found an old thumbie in good condition, it's a front shifter, but got enough length for an 8 speed cassette last I tried it.
