With judicious use of a plank and some trestles, I've weighed whole bikes on my 7001DX, which has also been on general kitchen duty for about 6 years now. 7kg by 1g increments makes it the perfect range for weight weenie bikes. If you must have a hanging scale, the Salter ElectroSamson in 10kg by 10g is about the highest resolution in something of the right range for not too much money.
