@guyfriday If you can, run a full back up now. HArd Drive could be about to shit itself. Even on a new machine they can go bang.
It is an issue i have been noticing. I'm a freelance designer so I'm always using iMacs/Mac Pro's and various other mac comps. The iMacs are generally the slower or have more beach ball moments. I don't know why but it definitely happens. The one I'm on now is a 3.2 GHz with 16GB RAM and running Yosemite and Adobe CC 2014 and in photoshop large brushes are lagging behind - doesn't happen on my lower specced MBP.

Mac Pros are super nice though.
