Sounds like your disk needs repairing or its getting ready to physically fail.
Run disk utility or onyx if you haven't already, that usually makes a big difference.@photoben good thinking. I'm not getting either for another 6 months but a pro it is!
I would really appreciate if anyone can shed some light on an issue i am experiencing, running a 2014 Imac, 8gb ram with 1TB storage, I use photoshop, illustrator, flash and after effects on a daily basis, along with mail and some office programs occasionally and most of my work is being stored via dropbox.
In the last couple of months its been infuriatingly slow, whenever I'm running more than just a browser, sometimes it gets to the point where each click within an app and sometimes finder involves a 10-30 second+ spinning beach ball. I used my macbook air just the other day doing the same work, minus after effects and it all ran super smooth, so i doubt its the type of work i am doing. Its not full, i have 380+ gb free storage. Can anyone suggest how i best go about cleaning it up or what i could try to help fix this slow performance? before i have to back everything up and lose it to apple to look over for a few days.
I swear my old 2005 macbook pro which was still my daily until about a year ago was faster, been using apple for over 12 years and Ive never experienced a machine running like this.. thanks in advance!
