Currently no sim in the handset and the 'Carrier' section under 'About' in settings shows as 'EE', which suggests to me that it isn't actually unlocked...

They may be the carrier settings from the last sim that was in the phone, unlocking does not normally wipe previous settings but allows them to be overwritten. Have you tried putting in a non-EE sim and seeing if that updates the carrier settings.

Thanks, this worked.

I was little reluctant to convert my micro-sim to nano in order to test as they (Three) said they couldn't transfer it back to a micro-sim if it didn't work (??...)
