Is it still sealed? It has no value whatsoever if it's been opened. A younger bottle of Booth's, albeit in better condition, is for sale at £250, so there may be some value in it.
A friend of mine is having to deal with the aftermath of the death of an elderly relative, and in the back of her drinks cabinet has uncovered a bottle of Booths "House of Lords" gin.
He got in touch with me as I work there, to see if I could verify if it actually came from the palace of westminster, but unfortunately it looks as if, in this case, House of Lords was used as a trademark and there is nothing on the label to actually say it was sold in the Palace of Westminster. It was, however, produced at the Red Lion Distillery, which stood just over the river and was finally demolished to make way for the Royal Festival Hall, so it's not completely impossible that this brand was not served in one of the bars in the palace of westminster...
The really exciting thing though, is the date. If the label on the back is to be believed, this gin was bottled in 1943. Anyone have any idea of what it might be worth?
My friend is wondering whether to sell it or drink it, and I'm wondering whether I ought to make him a reasonable offer.
