I've got a Walz winter wool cap. It seems to have good coverage and is relatively thin compared to some of the others I've had a look at.
Had that too, doesn't really cover it, even when I managed, it's a little tight.
Are the flaps too short vertically, or too tight against the ear? Would a separate, round-the-back-of-the-head earwarmer type thing be a better option?
Put a Buff on yer head covering your ears, then hat on top, then helmet on top of that (optional extra).
Warm ears!
