  • NOW ON RETROBIKE

I am selling Witcomb road frame and forks with Velo Orange grand cru threaded headset.
I bought this a few years ago from Union Cycle Works and it was repainted by Mario Vaz.

It has some nice details, a short wheelbase and have always enjoyed riding it.
As you can see in the photos it is well used so the usual nicks and little chips in the paint and a small indentation on the seat tube which.

    Top tube 57cm
    Seat tube 59cm
    Takes seatpost: 27.0
    Campagnolo drop outs
Rear shifter boss brazed onto down tube
Huret clamp on boss for front shifter included in sale
Tofosi BB (square taper campag 111mm) also incl but needs servicing.

    Collection only:
    Forest Hill/Sydenham SE26 6JA
or potentially Haggerston during the week.

I must not buy any more Witcombs.
I must not buy any more Witcombs.

Still tempted. Will have a think.

  • Here is a pic of how I originally had it built up to give a better sense of the geometry:

@Jingle_Jangle Would be good to see it go to a happy Witcomb loving home. Let me know.

  • +1 must not buy...

Lovely frame and that clamp on braze is kinda cute!

  • Would you sell the Huret clamp separately?

  • I would prefer not to sell separately unless the buyer does not want it.

    I'll let you know.

  • Dibs for a M8.

    YHPM

  • fork crown card suits are a lovely detail glws

  • My mate has changed his mind, so Undibs, sorry.

  • I may have one in the shed if you want me to check ?

  • Please do....cheers....m_v

  • nooooo! Cant believe your selling this dude !

So I want to throw something into the ring and suggest I think this might well be a Witcomb USA - not a London Witcomb... but its only the detailing and the fact that the tubing is probably Columbus (27.0 seatpost) rather than Reynolds. I dont think we ever did a full check... but I have seen a LOT of Witcombs and I think it is...

  • Julian - can you check the serial number for us?

  • Hey Joe, i am sad to be selling. Lots of good memories and a beautiful thing.

Will check serial number and chuck it up here next couple of days.

So witcomb USA potentially means it has been in the hands Sachs or Weigle? Had better put the price up ;)

  • thats very nice

  • Last chance for interest before this goes on sale somewhere else?

  • Such lovely fork blades on this. The headtube/downtube cluster looks really nice too.

So are you thinking this is by Sachs/Weigle?

  • If joe is right then yes, and ATMO it does share some similar details to some of the USA models I've seen out there, however looking at the info available of their serial number perhaps not.

    Serial no.: 3205382

  • @knowthejo what does the witcomb serial number log in your head day?

  • such a nice color too!
same size as my Holdsworth, but I must not be tempted by that fantastic fork crown.

can't believe it hasn't sold yet!

  • Sure you can be tempted!

  • oh I am tempted indeed :)
but no thanks, too many bikes for the space I have :/ and someone in the house will definitely kill me :)

  • Small price drop.
