The common seatpost size for this era and type of bike was 26,8 not 27, trust me I had a Concorde low-pro and needed to order one too.

Sorry for the late reply. @gereonb I'll take you're advice and check it when I can but can't at the moment. I haven't really been able to do anything else regarding the build, I do want to start getting the rear wheel done.
The question still stands regarding the tire choice. I really have no idea of what to do.

Hi, 27 fits in mine with no probs,

Is your seat tube reamed town the whole way?
I can put in the post down until the max insertion mark but no more and then still have 35cm of post left. -

Hi, yeah it just keeps going down, but my ST is curved, the post is an aero so the non aero is 14oish which leaves the top aero part, but the whole thing goes in up to the clamping part.

Not really an update. I have started negotiations with CycleBaskett, however they are having none of it, and am getting ready to send the pictures off to dignate.
I have made limited progression with the cranks. I'm gonna leave the anodising on the under side off the drive side crank - for now - cause too much work (not the crank arm bit though). Almost done everything apart from fluting which am considering doing with oven cleaner? then still need to get autosol and polish.
The seatpost sitch: I may check out whether the 26.8mm seatpost works as @gereonb said, at the weekends. Otherwise I'll have to cut it down.
I still need some straps (white) for the pedals.Apologies for the slow progress but coursework deadlines are starting to crop up now.

Still have no idea on what tires to get. I never thought it would have been this hard to chose
-
• #159
Can I just apologies for the absolute lack if progress here. It looks like tje thread will be hibernating until after April (not quite sure). Maybe will be able to sort some stuff out during easter.

Have you gotten a bb yet? I've bought a set of SR royal cranks too and I'm struggling to find a suitable (reasonably priced) bb for it. From what is on velobase, we need 106mm ISO, in an Italian thread...
-
• #161
Nope. The whole thing has been put on hold till after June. Its pretty annoying.
I didn't thing the BB would be much of an issue. My lbs said they had some so (for some reason) added they'd be reasonably priced. I really hadn't done much research into the whole BB scene. Probably should've done.
Did you get your cranks from epr off this thread?
-
• #163
Are they look nice.
That's gonna be a pain re the BB. There's bound to be one cropping up on here at some point. But I'm not gonna be able to to anything about it till after June.

• #164
Yeah, fingers crossed the one fitted works and gives a semi decent chainline.
Looking forward to seeing your build finished btw!
-
• #165
Phww. That's gonna be along time.
I've got some extra plans/thoughts but won't spill to put into action in case they never happen.
Yours is looking great. Hope it works out for you. Those Mavic pursuit bars you've ordered will look noice on it.

Have been very slowly sanding the cranks. I will probably use oven cleaner for the flutes and parts of the hard to access back of the crank. So found a camera and bored out of my mind decided to take some pictures (pictures further back have been edited).
The Crank (temporarily lost the non-driveside crank):
With the chainring
The chainrings, am going to be using the 48T and have later plans for the 54T:
The alignment of the pictures is really bugging me. I'll see if i can fix it. Can i do anything about the top one?

OK, so exams are done, so I may continue (after a trip I'm doing from friday till next next monday).
Since, my long term plan has changed slightly. After buildingthis up fixed I will be in the market for a track/ratty/cheap/broken (slightly) lo pro frame. I will then tranfer the parts onto that and have this as a TT bike (that will take a really long time but essentially i probably wont sell it) as it remains probably my favourite ever frame, probably much to many of you're relief (the gears part). This has come about as yes, I've realised that this does actually deserve gears and that the dropouts will really be quite annoying.
It will be quite a while though as I have spoilt myself with this. My shorter term plan remains the same.
-
• #170
Yes! I much prefer my one now that it has gears opposed to when I was riding it fixed
-
• #171
good to know, though this will be some time.

Tryed using some oven cleaner to clean out the flutes. Must have been some weak stuff cause it didn't do anything, despite leaving it on for a day accidently.
I'll have to go and get some more serious stuff, cannot be arsed to sand that all out. -

To those who are still reading, reasons beyond me, stage one of my plan has been completed.
In that I have found a large lo pro with track ends, thanks to @woah. Admittedly I rekon it was a TT frame due to drilling (however no cable guides?), one friction shifter and derailure hanger. It has been suggested that it was built by Aende post 1980 - from what I gather a Sheffeild based frame builder who had quite a good rep (sadly dead).
It is very light, lighter than the Concorde, has an unusual grub screw for the seatpost. It has Campanolo track ends and Cinelli BB, the rest is fillet brazed. The clearances are nice and tight. At some stage this was repainted, I think it was red/orange before due to remnants left on the fork and in the BB. Threadings are British and it has two 700c wheels. So this is stage one; build it up with existing parts and slowly upgrade. Stage 2, rebuilding the Concorde is way off.
With the paint looking like it is alongside the decals it is likely it will be repainted and probably get a European stylie going on.
Some aspirations of what I hope it to look like. Thinking two tone blue with pink benotto (pic 2), though the purple looks very nice.
This is just an update. Will probably start a new thread when it gets new paint / when accumulated bits start to make their way on. I plan to start the hording of new bits (wheels, cranks - unsure, wheels, bars, seat).
Have it built up with existing parts now. The pedals and crank are really cool however the plastic cages are useless. Both have already snapped; glad I got some metals ones off Hilary a while back. -

Mmm nice! Go for gears on this one
-
• #175
Massive fan of that frame!
Thanks but yeah, after a pair.
I still don't really know which ones to get. I was thinking about Veloflex Masters, is that a good idea?
